"Hi Taylor, Thanks for your interest in helping us test TERA! I have forwarded your email on to the appropriate group here for consideration. I hope to see you in the game! Aaron TERA Support" So if any of you think that is worth it, I would encourage you to send a "helper" e-mail that may or may not put you on a special interest list for the Beta Keys - only after you apply regularly of course. I'm not saying it's a sure thing, I'm just saying it is at least worth an actual human response haha. P.S. It seems like there is an inexplicably large ratio of crab bosses to non-crab bosses in this game. EDIT: Does anyone have any concrete information, perhaps from the KOBT, about any of the following questions: 1) How large is the free-roaming game world? 2) How much is instancing involved in the game experience? 3) How exaggerated are class roles? Specifically, as a MH priest, are you dealing damage versus serious bosses or are you actually healing the party? Parallel question for lancers as well. @Macabre: Thanks for the answers! I hope they put more instances in the game by release in the US and Europe.

No load time between zones. 2) - From level 1-38 there was a instance at level 20, 27, and 36. Outside of them there are open world dungeons. If you played Lineage 2.. think of Kruma Tower, Dragon Valley Cave...etc.. 3) Each class takes it's roll well in the dungeon. DPS does DPS...tanks tank.. healers healer. Lots of mobile combat, constant reading monster patterns to dodge/evade and reposition correctly.

There are dedicated PVP and PVE servers, to my knowledge, PVP servers are free pk zones, everywhere. PVE zones have designated PVP areas so theres no griefing while running around in the field. PK penalties have been confirmed, but no details on how yet. Lots of speculation of just EXP loss etc, but a lot of people want the drop a item when you die (which i personally find to be bullshit but w/e) No no when I say PK penalties I mean penalties for PKing, like Karma systems or such (become hostile to all players, and/or can't speak with NPCs, and/or can't quest). And what is server rifting? Personally for PK death penalties I think non-equipped items dropping is a fair penalty - I've always thought equipped items dropping was really terrible though (usually results in classes that don't rely on equip as much to be better, not to mention other potential problems). A chance at one of their items dropping depending on the value of the items would be ideal, but of course valuating items arbitrarily is difficult to do.

Westernization means taking the core Korean version of TERA and making it appeal to a more Western - specifically North American and European - audience. Audiences have different expectations of games in different parts of the world, and playing MMOs in Korea is a different kind of experience than playing them in the West. We have a team of writers who are fashioning the game's lore and plot, writing dialogue, and creating quests and story from the ground up. The game that will launch in North America will have significant differences from the Korean version. I really, REALLY like the Korean version from what internet detectiving I've done so far. I was a fan of Aion as well (until the gameplay just went stale so horridly fast at like level 30) and I really hope they retain the actiony feel to the game and don't turn it into another WoW-clone that won't make the cut. That being said, I am EPICLY awaiting this game to either beta invite me, or for release, I am absolutely 100% going to give this game a good try and see what happens! Maybe see a lot of TLers there? :D

I agree so much. I can't shake this sad feeling after playing KOBT over the last 2 weeks. That without any say.. the american version will be TERA on easy mode. FUCK this Westernization crap. Is this how it will be forever forward? Games will just be dumbed down for our culture, due to past research?? Guess we will never play a game the way it was built again.

Like... 6 minute bossfights? That makes me happy. I LOVE the idea of a dungeon playing out like a WoW Raid (sorry, best thing to reference it to!) Vanilla WoW was awesome because it was tough but rewarding. Ever since expansions came out it got dumber and simpler...I didn't even give cata a go because I just have no interest in the series anymore. And don't turn this into a WoW hate/love thread cause of me, was just saying... I am concerned all the hype and awesomeness of this game are going to get "westernized" into shit. ....even if the game is stupid easy and dumb to play, it still looks fking gooooood,

Over the last 2 weeks we mostly played in a 4, 5 man group taking on giant elites. Constant mobile / real time combat makes the grind seem non-existent. Not that there even is a grind, you level through mostly just quests, grinding is viable though. I can compare the game to fighting a boss in Monster Hunter if any of you are fans of that.

The PK system in place in Korea works like this. Once you are level 40+ and reach the other continent... It's open world PK, you can kill any other character. The penalties as of right now are; 1 - Your sockets have a chance to break on death(just like in PvE) 2 - Depending on the level range of the character you killed you get a minor attack speed debuff, but these can be removed with a item you can purchase from a NPC. For a very MINOR COST(almost nothing) That said, since the PK is happening in the higher level zones and most people there will be levels 40-50.. the penalty is nothing really. Unless you let it build up for a long period of time. You can gain VP Valkyon (Sp) Points from PVP which is used to buy PVP gear. This comes from OW PK/PVP and Battle Grounds and the Political system.

(action, grafic, lags, ) Except that is not case for TERA. TERA has all this, on a entire new level. That is my point.. this is due to past research(your assumption) Therefore we cannot play TERA as is, but it must be refined in whatever way they plan on first. TERA has thousands of quests, enough to reach max level twice.. TERA has the best combat I've seen in any MMORPG TERA has cutscenes and a beautiful story line that tells about your character becoming a hero TERA has better graphics then any Western MMO out at the moment TERA has a seamless world that is bigger than any MMO I have played in yet. It's file size is over 22gigs.. I don't know what you're trying to get at ~_~

If players are safe from PK until level 40, that's a problem for me because it allows a lot of free roaming for bots farming. Not getting items or gold or exp for PvP/PK kills also sucks.

Not sure if you get gold or exp. I think you may gain EXP. This is of course Korea's PVP ruleset. I believe they wait until level 40 because this is when battlegrounds and the political system come into affect. Also, the classes have more of their core skills by this level, further balancing some of the early game PvP. For a clear example, think of a melee class without a charge to close the distance vs a ranged character. The NA verison plans to have PvP servers with OW PvP right off the noob island. With different rulesets I'd assume. This has yet to be set in stone.

Depending on the character hitboxes I'm gonna go for an Elin Slayer/Warrior, more likely a Slayer because of the sheer awesomeness of a huge sword. The "aim to hit" combat mechanic is gonna require much more skill for ranged classes to actually hit a far away malee class in PvP. Its gonna rock (the way its supposed to be).
