I was on the shoreline in a relatively peaceful village. I was visiting from the city where I was going to school because this small village was my hometown.
Anyway, the entire village got together and celebrated my and a few others' return from school (yeah, the village was that small).
Of course there were some strange bits, such as how I inexplicably had supernatural strength due to the fact that I was secretly something called a Lich (Not in the traditional sense). And there was also a kid that mostly kept to himself who turned out to be a werewolf.
So the middle of the dream pans out like some sort of fantasy/action thing, where I have to fight off antagonists with superpowers and protect the village.
There was drama enough here, where I had to kill a girl, as she was the biggest threat to the village. Then one of the male antagonists attacked me in a flurry of rage and grief over her death. I felt extreme guilt, so I ended up doing something quite forbidden and returned the girl to life. The antagonists left in their airship.
A few days pass.
Since the village is on the shoreline of a very long and open beach, you can see the sun rising very easily every day. Apparently, in this world, the sun rises and sets in the same direction. This makes it all the more apparent that something was fundamentally wrong.
Eventually, everyone notices the sun getting larger by the day. The sun is expanding.
Through the sweltering heat I watch the large, swelling orb of red gas rise from the edge of the ocean and watch it sink back into it, as its reddening gaze distorts the air and throws an infernal glow on everything it touches.
I notice this and begin searching for possible solutions on the internet. There are not many. Then the kid I mentioned earlier directs me to a certain website. It is a database containing the pictures of that same swelling sun all across the world.
I somehow knew that tomorrow would be the last day, that it would be the last chance to do anything about the expanding sun. That night I ask the kid to bite me so that I can become immortal. There is a funny moment as I try to decide where I should be bitten.
But always there is a dark, foreboding knowledge that tomorrow would herald the end of all life.
My initial thought is that if I can destroy the sun, I can solve the situation. But that is out of the question. Though I know that I could survive in space due to my werewolf half and fly thanks to my Lich half, I could never do something as ridiculous as destroy the sun.
And what would come of it? The world would freeze rather than burn.
As the night runs its course the edge of the infernal sun creeps over the horizon. My friends have already left on the train to return to school. They had a blank expression of despair on their faces when they left. And now it began to pierce my chest.
Someone screams out "Somebody save us!"
And I think to myself that had it been anything else, I could have prevented it. But the expanding sun is about to engulf the world. And there is nothing anyone can do about it.
This is where I wake up.
The worst part is the fate of facing an expanding sun is a real situation that the world will find itself in in 1 billion years.
Will humanity survive until then? Who knows.
But I think I've just had a taste of how acute their desperation and despair will be.
