This is mostly directed to longtime TL users (1 year or longer).
I am not a longtime user nor do I claim to be for those who are misreading my post.
As the title reads I don't play much starcraft yet I am still very active on TL.net but planning to play some SC tonight to get it back on track
What really gets to my attention is that I've seen some people who don't play starcraft much or at all and I'm still visiting this site often and even doing the LR of GSL (planning to do more).
I'm usually working but I read more TL alot nowadays. Is this the same for old users? What is the reason that you are still here? Certain people you like/dislike? Or is it because the community is very awesome and unique?
There are quite some users who are very smart or exceptional in a certain area like physics or programming or some artistic skill etc.
Is this the real power of the TL community that is making me come back to read news more and to others as well?
I would really like to know this. It feels like I don't have to play Starcraft to be on TL but I and probably others too are still coming to TL.

Haha exactly what I did... Stopped playing after blizzcon, level 10 in LoL by playing 2 games a night...

I haven't played StarCraft I for a couple years and never played StarCraft II. The community is win (for the most part).
|
@The6357 and Glacierz:
Why are you still coming here to TL even if this is a Starcraft community site?
@ProTech_MediC ah well good to know that the community still makes u come back to TL.
|
I've visited TL from time to time kinda frequently ever since 2003, and I haven't been playing sc for much of that time. It's a good forum basically.
|
I come here because of the quality of the posts. More other gaming forums are full of troll/QQ threads, plus this site has subforums relating to other games/news/etc.
|
mostly for Broodwar, the community and procrastination
|
You don't play SC much, but you make some baller live report threads. I'd vote for you if there was an election for TL.net staff.
I've been following some sort of progaming scene since 2000. It went from SC to WC3 and now SC2. This place is obviously great for my fill of SC2-related stuff, and the site has enough flavor and diversity to keep some blogs and general discussion fun to read while I'm on business trips (as I am now)
|
|
The community is just awesome on TL. Even though I play/ check out a lot of the SC2 stuff, the general forum and the blog sections are awesome.
|
i play maybe 10 games of broodwar a week? idk its not very much -_- i watch a lot more lol
but i've been here for 2ish years, and my involvement in the community has only been increasing T_T
TL WHY ARE YOU SAPPING MY LIFE
|
@holy_war Yea the general forums are great ^^ Most news I read from there and my friends/colleagues get it after few days or atleast a day after it's posted on forums so the general forums from users are quite up to date on latest new stuff.
@seraph I get the feeling now that Nazgul is probably scheming some dark plan to slowly conquer us all LOL or some mod is controlling everything behind the curtains (hmm who could do such a thing then). But nonetheless I can't refuse TL to saph more out of my life rather I just enjoy it instead :|
|
I haven't stopped playing sc2 completely, just not laddering competitively. Still play with friends casually and watch a lot of live streams/casts. I like how you can post something completely not sc related and still generate plenty of intelligent responses, this is rare for a gaming forum in general.
|
@Glacierz The only gaming forums I've been to is a dutch one and from sk-gaming long ago (for cs) which was indeed a troll fest. But I was never active on those forums except on TL. And I can see what you mean about not sc related and still generate plenty of intelligent responses. Maybe the average user is abover average in intelligence in general And I am glad that I'm on TL then about experiencing this

It would be easier to come up with a list of reasons to NOT visit TL
Playing Starcraft wouldn't be the same without TL, and TL wouldn't be the same if I didn't play. They add context to each other, and I just wish they weren't so addicting (or I had infinite free time)
|
Even when I go through phases of not playing BW I still come to TL because I find it interesting!
Low quality threads and users and quelled almost immediately and as a result I reckon they appear less often in the first place... they know their fate if they do.
Also it's a community (I feel) of mostly like minded people so even discounting SCBW you will probably have a lot in common with a lot of the people here.
As forums go I have found none better.
|
I really dont know why im at this site. Ive been here for so long I guess its just worked into my daily routine. I barely ever play sc since sc2 release. the general/blog section on this site is so entertaining i can waste hours not even glimpsing at sc related threads.
|
Im more the opposite.
I play more than I visit TL forums.
I do visit other forums daily but those are for reading information.
|
Or is it because the community is very awesome and unique?
The mods do a great job keeping out trolls and idiots.

Pretty much this, I like having stuff to talk about.
I average an hour a day browsing the web, I should probably cut back.
I spend most of my web time on TL, going through blogs and general. I haven't touched sc2, and I only played broodwar twice in the past two months. Since the retirement of the recommended vods thread, I just click on random games uploaded on the Nevake account on Youtube.
