Considering that Ryner + Ferris was faring decently against 2 relics (enough to survive for a while) and that there are a bunch of ridiculous folks in this series that just toys around with relics almost, it really isn't worth the effort to send everyone to get relics. That and the information on the relics are kind of vague and how Shion wasn't exactly given a lot of information, yeah... I'd say that there is decent use of an army, so far only that sword has proven to be an army-annihilating weapon.

Ryner isn't even working particularly hard and he has already come across two relics, both of which he relinquished because it was too much of a bother to properly learn how to use them. Though not as absurd as the sword, the relics all show to be quite potent. Yet, as far as we're concerned, only Ryner and Ferris are on this assignment.

There are other reasons why Ryner and Ferris are on this journey, but that's more or less spoilers. For the record though, Luke from the chasing squad was also told to retrieve any relics possible, and from the events later on in the novels, presumably there are indeed other agents of Roland working to obtain relics. As for the nobles in DenYuuDen, they are just plot devices, the intelligent people are all in other countries so Shion actually has to deal with them

Meh if I can only find some of the more recent novels, supposedly gets a lot more action packed. Forgot to mention, but the way that relics work out to be the nukes of the DenYuuDen world actually makes it pretty interesting because there is the potential for an individual to just get a ton of it and immediately become a threat to these empires. Need some ways to balance BerserkRyner out

Despite the existence of relics in DenYuuDen, armies still have practical uses. Granted, they'll be utterly useless in a fight against someone with a relic, but there can't be that many of those floating around. In addition, it'd be impossible to occupy an enemy nation with only one or two people wielding relics. Doing that is much easier when you have an army. It's kind of similar to the modern day military - the air force can pound the shit out of everything, but at the end of the day, you need regular ground forces to occupy the territory you've won. By the way, that sword really reminds me of DtB. Contractors and

So is the Bungaku Shoujo movie actually about the bungaku shoujo? Cause uh, 50min in and I'm having a hard time continuing (like with the manga) as I'm getting over-flooded by Konoha's emo-ness. Edit: Seems like the king just wants to beat every nation down, demand surrender, and set up tributary/puppet state so that technically the whole land is united. God I hate these wage wars to make peace philosophies in villains.

Personally I like my strategic artillery analogy better, since the relics are essentially nukes. You can't even really guard against them the way you could bombardment, you just hunker down and pray for the best. EDIT - Which king? That's not really what Shion is thinking of, and the Hero King isn't even trying to waste time setting up puppet governments. Watch on I guess, as usual Touko saves the day. If I have to see a single volume aired, I would've said vol 2 because Touko was involved from start to finish and the plot was based on Wuthering Heights. Vol 5 though offers some screentime for every character, a feat that is only matched by vol 7+8. Since they can't very well just jump to the conclusion of the series, the best they could do is use vol 5. Which, unfortunately for you, deals more with Konoha and his past than Touko herself. What's even more unfortunate is that we were unable to get all the Takeda, Akutagawa and Nanase plots because oops, we didn't get to watch vol 1, 3 and 4. The focus of vol 5 after we take everyone away naturally moves to the only ones left, and it is an awful lot of emo to digest for Konoha. He was a lot better in the books because we had all those developments from the books, but a ton of that involved the 3 aforementioned characters and vols so we just don't get anything. Oh yeah, the most emo vol was definitely 7, this vol had nothing on vol 7. Like I mentioned last time when I commented on the bungaku shoujo movie. It was good, it is not nearly as good as the books, but they did pretty damned well considering the limitations they were placed under.

Dunno, I was just assuming that the pinky king wasn't too intent on actually ruling as just eliminating war. Made some out of place accusations and let it sit like that X). and damn you Konoha.

Touhou is already invading the character merchandise area And Miya is the sister in Amagami right? I might watch that arc then~ If mainstream Touhou anime was like this: and consisted of nothing but bullet fights every episode my life would be complete.

Too bad its not I think the main problem most people have is that if there was an "official" anime people would be less inclined to produce such awesome videos like that
