I'm not to familiar with SC:BW, nor with SC2, but I love E-Sports and enjoy watching the big tournaments and streams. So that's why this post will be about something I feel more comfortable writing about: Music.
If you know where to look, there are some really great music channels on the net where can find videos by established (mostly independent) musicians who perform in rather unusual places, like on the street, in the bathroom or some other odd situations.
For me, those videos are a little addictive. I love seeing bands perform in a rather private and familiar setting.
So here, I'd like to share with you some sites I know and regulary check for new content.
La Blogotheque - Les Concerts A Emporter (France)
+ Show Spoiler +
Probably the first, and most famous site for videos like this, La Blogotheque and their Take-Away Shows got an impressive list of musicians.
Beirut - Nantes
Many of the videos on Blogotheque are directed by the known video artist Vincent Moon, who also did a whole film for the scottish band Mogwai.
Mogwai - Burning (Teaser)
PSL - Musik med...(Sweden)
+ Show Spoiler +
Another channel that's been around since 2007 is Musik med..., made by a Swedish TV-station. There's tons of unknown and small bands to be found on Musik med..., so I encourage everyone who'd like to find some fresh, new music to go to their site and check it out.
Action Biker - Hesperian Pusit
Show to Go (Switzerland)
+ Show Spoiler +
A rather new Swiss site, I haven't had the time to really check out yet. They are pretty serious in copying the style of La Blogotheque and there are mostly swiss bands to be found on Show to Go, but discovering new tunes from countries that are not to known for their music is certainly not bad, right?
The Great Park - Suit of Stones
Amsterdam Acoustics (Netherlands)
+ Show Spoiler +
With high production costs, Amsterdam Acoustics makes great videos with perfect sound recordings. Definitely check out more on their site.
Erlend Øye - Mrs. Cold / Ask
ZEIT Online (Germany)
+ Show Spoiler +
As I found out today, the the German newspaper Die Zeit also does videos. Which is awesome, cause I really enjoy their paper and they even featured one of my favorite artists of 2009, Sophie Hunger. Go listen to her music, she's unbelievable!
Sophie Hunger - Train People
From The Basement (England)
+ Show Spoiler +
I don't know too much about this site, but From The Basement is doing videos of 'normal' concert. I think the site doesn't get updated anymore, but they've got some known artists performing for them.
Eels - It's A Motherfucker
Laundro Matinee (USA)
+ Show Spoiler +
Doing mostly unplugged performances now, Laundro Matinee from Indianapolis do their 'Sessions' since 2008. Here's somewhat of an older song, as I couldn't find more recent youtube videos I'm able to embed. Visit the site!
Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin - Write a Book
The Alternate Side (USA)
+ Show Spoiler +
I found this site today. They're from NYC and are doing a lot of videos! I know what I'll be watching after I'm finished with this post..
Los Campesinos! - Straight In At 101
SPIN Magazine (USA)
+ Show Spoiler +
Another channel I just found. I'm not from the US, so I don't know SPIN Magazine, but they've also got tons of videos!
Phoenix - 1901
Don't just listen to the songs here, go to the sites! A few (especially the last few) songs might not be the best pick! Also, if you enjoyed my post here, you also might like to visit my 'real' blog //Netzfilter. Me and some of my friends post awesome music over there regularly. It's in German, but to be honest: It's only about the music anyway
On a side note, thanks to JWD for his awesome Blog which inspired me a bit to write this.
