Here is a little update on my training status:
Im still playing 10+ hours a day. I broke into Diamond pretty easily and Im still losing games due to carelessness and semi questionable decision making. PLaying SC2 full time has definitely decreased my quality of life. I only work 3 or 4 days a week- and am making plenty of money to survive- lets just say I am not eating a steak dinner every night :D Traveling expenses for tournaments may be a bit of a problem, too.
Areas to improve upon: Scouting Terran at appropriate times with ovies Lack of proper build order planning in some games Still need to improve Infestor micro Need a bit of improvement on the larvae injection timing Reminder: Dont do a massive drone pump vs 4 gate toss :D
Things that are going well: Baneling/Infestor drone harrass is kickin ass Creep spreading Expanding well EAPM is steadily improving, along with mouse precision and speed
Here is a link to my stream: http://www.teamliquid.net/video/userstream.php?user=BallMan
Im playing everyday starting around 10am-12noon and streaming until I leave for work (around 5pm, and when I dont work I stream until I cant focus anymore (midnight or so).
Thanks to my new coach in the Netherlands- Ruben- who I met through streaming- he has been spectating my training sessions and offering great advice.
Thats it for tonight!
BSBZERG!

Nice! Whats your win-loss record so far?
|
A harcore training Zerg? Just what I needed! Will be tuning in on the weekend! Good luck and see you on stream, I hope!
|
|
Reminder: Dont do a massive drone pump vs 4 gate toss :D Haha Seems the practice has done you good. What region you play?
|
Do a massive drone pump vs all builds! Then you can scale it down to know just how many drones you can afford vs each build
|
@genesisX My win/loss record is pretty good now- I hit diamond on my second day and am having trboule in the ZVZ mirror match- just a matter of my opening builds it seems. Im working on bling micro/roach and expo timings. I also need to learn the muta transition.
@dogabutila PST I live in cenral coast california- i usually train from 11am-work @ 5 or 11am-sleepytime on days I dont work. I also train after work @ home until I feel like sleeping (for example it is 6am and I am just now getting off :D)
@demise play US realm, will get korean and europe when money permits- and- the practice is working wonders :D
@lopper I will be trainign 12 hours on saturday if you want to get some games in.

10 hours a day? You're a beast man..hope you become successful with it all. Are you entering tournaments and what not?
|
Wow that is some dedication. What made you decide to start playing full time?
|
Honestly, way to throw away your life .

Jealousy imo.
Life is only worth living if you do what you enjoy. Whether that be doing it for financial gain, social status, or enjoying playing video games...
It shouldn't matter.

What worries me is this:
PLaying SC2 full time has definitely decreased my quality of life
That doesn't sound like fun to me. Usually things that decrease quality of life are things that are unpleasant, unenjoyable, and tedious. Hopefully you are actually enjoying what you're doing with this mass practice; and doing it because you enjoy it, not for some hope of fame or monetary success. In any event, I wish you the best of luck and hopefully you'll continue to get better and better.

He obviously enjoys it if he is doing it so much. People enjoy smoking weed, but it most likely reduces their quality of living.
Kind of like that Flash interview where he said that all he can think about is Starcraft. In the shower, while eating, getting ready to sleep. You have to love something to be motivated to get good at it. Otherwise you are going to hit a brick wall, and fast. Even if you have a lot of talent for it, you'll still get torn down emotionally/physically.
|
I hope you're not making a huge mistake here brotha. Not everyones meant to be a winner, talent plays a role. I hope you have it, good luck!

Thanks for the support guys. Im glad you quoted the flash thing- Im having a similar "problem".
I also wonder if Bobdowie has much of a life himself- wandering around forums in a community that loves a game he will always suck at.
I also wouldnt consider playing SC2 throwing my life away. I have the ability to make money at any point in time. I just recently spent months in silent meditation at a monastery in Costa Rica, when I got back I studied Jiu Jitsu and muay tai pretty hardcore. I studied physics and Im learning French and I have intimate knowledge of wines and food from all over the world- all stuff that I thought was fascinating before I discovered SC.
Its like playing an instrument, while speed reading, and having the ultimate chess battle- the only thing that can keep my multi tasking brain satisfied.
@LMaster Sometimes it is very tedious- but I enjoy those parts of training the most because I force myself through it for greater understanding of the game. Starcraft is not always about fun- and neither is life. I challenge you to define the word fun and then explain why its important to "have." People always say this about whatever I do- but I dont care about "fun" I just like being good at stuff. If you look deeply enough into the having fun concept you will realize that having fun for most people is just causing them to live only in the past and the future rather than in the moment they are in. When I am in the zone- and having a good starcraft session there is nothing else in life that makes any sense or matters to me- and that is why I play full time.
Starcraft 2 monastery anyone? :D:D

BallMan i fucking love you. keep doing what you do!
|
Thanks for the support! and the SC2 monastery will be starting withing the next 3 months- a living room full of desks, simple food, water, and SC2
