Whoa time sure flies by quickly. It's been about a month since my previous batch. Here are 6 more K-pop songs I think you should take a listen to!
CLEO - Intro 2000
A surprisingly good intro track for a girl group. In fact, one of the best I've heard from any K-pop artist. CLEO, which is an acronym for Come Listen Every One, debuted in 1999 and had a bunch of minor hits, but never really hit it big. I guess their most famous song was 동화(Fairy Tale) which was the title track of their 4th album. One of the three members, 최은정, is still currently semi-active under the name Enjel. Note that I messed up the tags, the album name is actually "Good Time" not "Ready For Love".
Lim Jung Hee - Music Is My Life 2005
I remember when I went to Korea in the summer of 2005 this song had just been released and was EVERYWHERE, particularly from the MelOn TV ad that would play every 5 minutes. Anyway, she's pretty much the Alicia Keys of Korea. I think JYP screwed up by sacrificing her career in Korea (which was going just fine) for an American debut which has yet to materialize. She has a good soulful voice and I like the jazzish feel of the piano with the overall fast tempo of the song.
Diva - 고리 1999
Diva was one of the longest-running Korean girlgroups debuting in 1997 and last being active in 2005. Yeah they weren't nearly as popular as FinKL, SES, or BabyVOX but they held their own with quite a few hit songs. This song was one of the title tracks from their 3rd album, MILLENNIUM.
유리상자 - 신부에게 1999
유리상자 (Glass Box) is one of the most talented Korean duos around. They both play acoustic guitar as they sing with their trademark soft and light vocals. This song, 신부에게 (To My Bride) is one of the most played wedding songs in Korea. It's also, in my opinion, one of the all-time top 50 K-Pop songs you need to know if you call yourself a K-Pop fan.
주석 - 하루종일 (24/7) Feat. 태완 2005
I don't know why but I'm a sucker for hiphop songs with a nice melody and strings. This song is relatively unknown but it's one of my favorite K-hiphop tracks. Unfortunately I can't get into any other songs of his . If you happen to like Joosuc and listen to his other stuff, give me recommendations of other good songs from him!
Turbo - 회상 (Acoustic Ver.) 2007
If you're a long-time K-pop fan you may have done a double-take when you saw the year. This isn't the original megahit from Turbo's 3rd album in 1997. It's instead an acoustic remake from their album, "2007 회상". It has a different feel from the original but still a great song nonetheless. The original version of this song falls in my all-time top 50 K-pop songs as well.
