I am running on windows XP SP 3 with Microsoft Security Essentials. I checked my task manager and shows that my highest memory usage is from MsMpEng.exe. I have tried many different tips and removal tools to disable this (MsMpEng.exe is not supposed to run even though Security Essentials is on). However, it always comebacks to eat up all my memory, is there any way to remove this memory hog?

Edit: not to be a dick man, but this is a pretty specific process to ask a question about. I could understand asking for help on maximizing memory use and such, but ... try google see what you get if it doesn't work come back.

its the moniotring service for real time protection. Usually at ~50K. you can disable this by settings -> dont monitor file and program activity, then kill it. typically this is wanted on though when on the internet. easiest would be to uninstall and try some other virus protection if you are having memory issues.
