Granted, the way Baby played it this game was different. He was able to afford mech in part because of the quick back expansion, which was easy to defend with his wraiths (Jaedong tried to drop it a few times but got warded off each time). The wraiths also repelled Jaedong's overlords, so it was really hard for Jaedong to see what Baby was doing until too late.
I disagree with Arrian on this one: I think all the credit for this game goes to Baby for coming up with an innovative build based on good analysis of a new map. It's true that Jaedong's unit composition was pretty bad against what Baby was really doing, but that's just the surface of the game. IMO.
My issue wasn't that Jaedong didn't have the right tech when Baby transitioned, it was that he stuck with the wrong tech once he figured out that Baby had transitioned to straight mech.
And don't get me wrong; I didn't mean to take anything away from Baby. He's certainly not a player that I would want to square off against at this moment. His play has been improving dramatically of late. He played this game very well because if he was any less of a player he wouldn't have been able to capitalize on Jaedong's numerous errors, but even halfway through the game it was Jaedong's game to lose, and he threw it away.
I hope that calm can come up with something clever against fantasy - fantasy's tvz isn't "that" solid. Calm should be able to play smart and possibly take the series
so many great names down like flies .. and great player who plays great games past season did shit stuff in comparison of what they did last season .. makes you ponder if match rigging was behind this or not .. sad
hoping for great games .. and how the hell did kwanro lose to that??? O.o
I wonder if Jeadong lost on purpose, after what I read about the illegal betting scandal scandal. And also Flash when losing to Hiya after choosing to go mech TvZ instead of his trademark bio.
I dunno, the Baby-Jaedong thing reminded me of Movie vs Jaedong where Jaedong got caught with his pants down when and Jaedong kept investing in trying to get a critical mass of hydra rather than build lings. Or vs FirebatHero where that one surviving BC made him go all-in ground and killed his main...
