Hi guys
So as those of you who follow me on ladder may or may not have noticed, I dropped 100+ points last night. I went about 6-16 or something, and played overall very badly as I was entirely worn out from 4 hours of sleep and a hard day at work.
But it wasn't all for nothing... I think I've figured out more of PvT, and how protoss players should generally go about at it, as well as a standard opening of sorts to be used pre and post scouting.
Lately, I've seen lots of weird proxy-rax+fastgas/OC builds into reaper rushes or marauder rushes, and I've been overpowered by marauder pushes a lot. I don't necessarily think this translates into Terran being imbalanced (well at least for the marauders, not the reaper rush which if executed quickly and properly, will put the Terran slightly ahead before you take it out).
Normally if I'd go 6-16 on a regular day, I'd feel like shit and not want to touch the game. However, it is the people I've met through the game who keep me going. Many players on the server think I have a strong and unique PvZ, and Idra and Artosis took notice when Idra went up against me in ladder. The encouragement from Catz and the rest of root, along with encouragement from Artosis has kept me going, so I've been trying to pull through with some workable strategies as well as a "standard" build order/mind set/game plan for other match-ups and see what I could come up with.
So what have I learned? I don't think I have PvT 100% figured out yet, but I think it's not necessarily imbalanced on some maps, but some strategies (e.g. reaper rush) will be stronger on a 2 player map obviously - and just like you will go 11 gate or something on it in PvZ, u should be doing that in PvT too.
Will I go 6-16 again today? I don't think so. I'm well-rested now, I've already dropped 100 points, and I am definitely making even more progress in terms of gamesense.
Again, Thx to all of the people I mentioned above and I will bounce back
PS for those of you asking me for reps/BO's and stuff, I will "eventually" put something up, but I am working out the kinks and still experimenting with variations for PvP and PvT.

I felt the same way yesterday, I kept dropping games but today I will do better. I think I was mentally exhausted and kept pushing myself. Keep on fighting..

Nice to know. Why don't you explain it if you understand it so well

Antimage.vwind or if you mean his bw id, dono
Hi everyone.
So I'm relatively unknown on TL, but as an intro, I've lurked the forums for 4+ years, and decided to join after CSL season 2 (my school, Waterloo won!!). My iccup high is C+, and I'm switching over to SC2.
I'm working full time right now as a co-op student, but between work, friends, and the (lack of) sleep I have, I'm getting as much time in SC2 as I can.

Antimage.vwind on NA server ^^ i was around 1750 then fell to 1630 or something.
And I'm figuring it out, it doesn't mean my PvT is unstoppable right now - I have done stuff that's worked and done stuff that hasn't worked, and it's extremely map dependent because of all the options terran has.

Who would you say, as of this patch, has the inherent advantage in PvT? Early on in the beta, Protoss had a huge inherent advantage over terran due to templars and colossi raping shit up, how do you feel about the current situation?

Right now in PvT, I think people are playing protoss too aggressively. You should be playing passively, expanding slowly (taking geysers asap of course) and wait for the terran to make a mistake. Spread out your forces so you have a good concave, and slowly push toward the terran player. With higher numbers, protoss has the advantage, and the best way to get there is to turtle up like TvP in SC1. Of course, at the same time you need obs around and scouts everywhere so you know what's coming when it's coming.

But it wasn't all for nothing... Yes, I actually follow your ladder ranking hourly and was surprised to see you go 6-16 last night. Thanks for the clarification.

I follow Chill's ladder points / ranking zealously, too bad it's not worth mentioning, like ever. I wonder why you still get kicks out of snug comments like this dude, let this guy enjoy himself.

Post some of the replays you lost maybe?
|
I lost because of things I forgot to do like having a pylon at the edge of my base to watch for nyduses and forgetting to scout at a certain timing window =(

Ya if a terran player makes a mistake the games over for him when I play vs a terran, its a battle to see who can not make the mistake first!
I've also found that you can expo later then the terran safely and generally not be too behind as long as he doesn't get his 3rd up while your 2nd isnt saturated. I generally play PvT aggressively but I have noticed that if you play passively and you are ready for attack you can turn that around on them pretty hard and generally win the game there.
I also recommend a charge zeal 3-4 warp gate before archive build if you suspect a 3 rax stim maurd push. Works wonders, just make sure your in position.
Antimage do you make both colossi and high templar in pvt? I haven't done it too much lately but if a terran likes to kite you with his units then you should definitely get some colossi out.

So with the new patch... I believe my losing streak will be over.

With the new patch my winning streak will be over, now that zerg has no counter for thors, mech is much stronger, and void rays are imba.
