So 2 days ago, I got myself a beta key as a present from a very close friend of mine who knows how much I love starcraft
Started the game and played 10 games in the easy mode (ye I know im such a noob) and then the system put me in a league. currently in the bronze league.
Here is what happened next:
Then I started playing some more games and here is where I currently am:
Some thoughts till now are that I dont think starcraft 2 will be better than sc1 hell I think sc1 is the best RTS game ever created (and the best game ever created) and there is no way another game, starcraft 2 or not is going to change that. Second of all I was a C+ high on iccup and my apm was always around 180, nothing I could do no matter how many games I ve played to change my APM or become a "pro". In starcraft 2 I think I have potential to rise and be a known player. Also I switched from Zerg to toss (in sc1 also! achieved C- with decent stats) so I am in for some new strategies and stuff. So far starcraft 2 i really enjoy playing it and stats dont matter my goal is to just mass games and see how that goes. Tho playing with better opponents always makes you a better player and in bronze league everyone has crap stats except me and 1 more guy. really hope i can make a switch to a better league just dont know when that will happen. Will continue writing more, so hyped right now and I wanna play more games. Will also upload some replays for whoever cares :/
Some strats ive been doing are:
PvP -mass zealots from 1 base 4 gateways. (got stopped once by a guy that went 2 gate mass zealots tech and cannons) my last game I scouted my opponent he went gate-forge-expand so I went gate-core-expand-forge etc and ended up really well for me.
PvZ -I try and do an early push, such of IdrA's vs Oversky where he went Immortal/zealot/stalker BTW Immortals (at first I thought they suck ass) but really if you make like 3-4 + they own! especially vs zergling/roach/hydra dunno vs mutas yet...
PvT -I try and cheese with proxy cannon-zealots :D works like a charm :D lol

I am very surprised that you were not able to get platinum league.
Almost everyone who is on TL.net that has reached around C- high got platinum fairly easy (I'm an example of such a player).

Well as you see I keep getting wins... Its not that im in bronze and get losses.. Just dunno what to do to get to platinum...
|
hm I guess you just got unlucky with your 1st 10 evaluation games :D
I started in platinum, so I'm not sure how many wins it will take to move up the leagues; my guess is a lot.

hm can you reset the record and play the first 10 evaluation games again?
|
Some other thing that I noticed is that in sc1 my apm should be around 160 and now in sc2 its 60-70. IdrA (dunno if its really him) had the same which seems odd.

Dont think so...

wtf? going 9-1 puts you in bronze league? that can't be right. Otherwise, how could anyone be in silver or gold league? I assume going 10-0 puts you in platinum, right?

When u r about to get the evaluation games started the game asks you and you have 3 options:
Are you a noob in rts? Are you an "ok" player in rts? Are you a pro?
i chose the noob option since I havent played starcraft 2 before and wanted to see how it looks in the beginning then thought i could go up ^^ maybe thats the case??
ALSO it really frustrates me that SC2 will have this silly WoW achievement thing.... why do they have to do this anyway?? its an rts! damn it!
|
Dunno why but I just now entered silver league and placed at 9th place ^_^ woohoo!!
maybe it had something to do with play 10 games vs protoss 10 vs terran 10 vs zerg and then u get evaluated. Cause I wasnt playing lots of games vs zergs... and I got the promotion after I lost to a zerg! lol (zealots are shit against all in speedlings)

Is all of CJ playing SC2 or only Idra? And how come he gets to play that much SC2. I don't get it, he is a paid professional

Not like he's missing out on tournaments or anything. Growth & development efforts are better spent on SC2 now I guess.
|
That's kind of strange about the 10 evaluation games, I went 7-3 on my evaluation games and got into Gold League. I guess it depends on who you play and how you play?

He says he did the easy mode (slow game speed, anti-rush maps, etc). That's probably why he ended up in a low rank.
