Make and model of the router? How old is the router? Does it lose connectivity through both wired and wireless connections? Have you tried upgrading the firmware of the router? When you lose connection are you still able to ping the router?
|
My router used to disconnect randomly too, until I was so frustrated that I went and bought a new cheap router for around 35€. It has worked ever since.
|
mine used to do that back in the day when i was playing mmorpgs, annoying as hell.maybe not as often as yours but still, net connection should be always stable contacted my provider, some guy came, did some tests and stuff.of course it was their fault, which got fixed over time

Answers to these, please. Also, elaborate more on what type of connection you have (e.g. DSL, cable), if you have a router/modem combo or two separate devices, etc.

haven't really heard of othher appliances disturbing wireless signals but it's possible if the router's dated enough
try a direct ethernet to router, then to modem and see if it happens again

1) I strongly recommend hard resetting the router (putting a pin in the reset button in the back for about 10 seconds) and setting it back up again.
2) Do the lights on the router actually go out when this happens, or do they stay on solid (ie, just the wireless connectivity was broken)? If so, you can check for wireless interference as well. Anything that runs on a 2.4GHz frequency (notoriously, cordless phones, but it can even be microwaves) can cause the wireless connection to drop.
Other than that, yeah, please answer meeple's questions. ^_^

Im sure he loses connection but is still in the router's network. That occurs to me sometimes.

lol.. Mine works very well at a reasonable price.

try reseting it for 30 secs-min then do static ip and then login configure it
|
to make a static ip do cmd run ip config /all then just type in under properties on your network conections

More like Netgear. My wireless Netgear router was a pos and my linux linksys router is pimp.

still happens to me whenever i'm using a wireless connection (not often cuz my pc and xbox are wired) but whenever someone picks up the phone the wireless connection just stops for a few seconds.
|
If your still connected to a network and your INTERNET connection keeps disconnecting, there could be line static or something. If its been happening for a long time, it could be (assuming your on ADSL or similar) your line speed has been upgraded but your telephone line cannot handle the data or you're too far away from your local exchange etx.
If it turns out to be this (happened to me) ring up your ISP and ask them to lower your speeds or change your line profile to see if it makes a difference.

lol, please know what you're talking about

Probably has something to do with the wires to the router, make sure they're yellow.
