From what I understand, all you have to do if buy a book and study it and take the exam.
There are a lot of different books. can someone recommend a good one?

All you have to do is apply like you would for any job, for example cvs pharmacy (where i work). They will set you up with training and give you a lot of crap to read. Then you start off as a PSA (service associate) where you mostly just run the cash register and learn how things work. Next after you reach a certain ammount of hours (500? i think) you take a test to become state certified technition (the test is simple and you can keep retaking it as many times as you want until you pass). After working for a few years they told me I should become nationally certified so my company paid for me to take an exam (i did no studying at all and didnt read any books or anything) just used my knowledge that i gained from work and i passed the test and got certified. So if you have any questions feel free to ask me since i've been a tech for ~4 years now. Also the pay isn't great just a little above minimum wage, and the job is extremely boring and repetitive so i really wouldn't reccomend it to anybody.

Should I contact the store hiring manager and talk to them about my situation? or just wait? i feel like if i wait then im not above other people but if i call them then im bothering them .

You will have to pee in a cup. I would stop now because my drug test was a month after my interview. my interview was about a week after i applied.

I'm sure they have safeguards in place to make sure drugs don't just go walkabout To say the least, I volunteered at the local hospital's pharmacy dept once. Some of the common abusive drugs, Vicodin I think, went missing. They, as in the hospital security and local police, fucking tracked me down to one of the nearby lunch places, and started asking me if I knew what happened to them...then they found them behind a machine because someone knocked them off. :\
