for an FPS game It's harder to use a controller in my opinion... games like counter strike are easy enough for a six year old because point-click gl hf!

I have gotten use to both, but if I need to play to the best of my abilities, I'll play with mouse and keyboard.

Every FPS on consoles has some degree of autoaim. Otherwise no one would ever hit anything. The people good at those games are good at manipulating the autoaim. Hell, just read some halo forums there are plenty of articles about how to maximize damage through the use of autoaim.

One more note - it isn't preference. Sure, someone may like a controller more and even play better on it. However, its inherent disadvantages to mice really do make it worse. Edit: Another thing. With controllers you're using one hand to both move your cursors and do other actions simultaneously. Finger independence is not the easiest thing to be skilled at (piano?). On the PC side, one hand is dedicated to moving your cursor while the other hand moves and does actions. So the mouse is also more natural and easier to learn than a controller.

And it's spelled Controller I have gotten use to both, but if I need to play to the best of my abilities, I'll play with mouse and keyboard. my 1st shooters were on consoles but after playing CS for a few years when I was like 12-14 I found it too hard to play FPSs on controllers any more. It's almost like you're not even really playing the game, its like youre playing a game about playing a game or something lol.

Console fps are such an incredibly clumsy and inferior experience, but it's still possible to have fun with it online since no one there can actually play. What is suffering the most - speed, you can't point at an enemy in an instant and start shooting at the limit of reaction time and this is so unsatisfying.

And i dont agree at all with the greater variety a keyboard can give you, sure you can chat and give commends but those are useless and a controller has more comfortable layed out buttons which are enough for the great majority of games. Although the precision of a mouse is obviously the most important difference, you can still play some console games with a mouse.

when they attempt to play a FPS with mouse & kb, they play absolutely atrociously so they apply their own poor mouse & kb experience to the controller vs mouse & kb debate and believe it to be absolutely true.

this is my personal fav frag video, it's also short and pure action, no wasting time. Anyone with a half brain will realize that you can't move like that with a controller, aim like that, control recoil like that, be as fast, etc.

Think of it this way: when you are holding a controller, how many different buttons are within reach? Compare that to how many are in reach when your hand is at your normal position on the keyboard

And the reason is that you can manipulate wasd+zx with 3 fingers simultaneously for in-game movement so exceptionally fast, twitchy and diverse. Thumb+Analog stick on controller can never perform as well and Wrist+Arcade Stick is also worse for certain manipulations.

If you want to test your theory with your friend, you can buy those wireless usb devices that allow you to use xbox controllers on your PC. Give him a game on LAN and see how dominated he gets. Many console gamers dont realise that there are autoaims helping them aim. They just assume that they are gosu.
