Fomos is working on making the 30 questions/30 answers interview more efficient by shortening it to 20 questions/20 answers. Season 2 of the 30/30 - 20/20 started with ZerO as its first candidate and is currently working to create new questions. Also, players who have already done 30/30 will get a fresh start to be interviewed again by 20/20.
Last 20/20’s star was KT’s Violet who chose Hite Sparkyz’s Horang2 who has been drawing attention from protoss fans with his strategic plays. Horang2, who has been nicknamed 4th-dimension toss by fans, reveals his stories through this 20/20.
1. When did you gain the dream of becoming a progamer?
▲ I think the first time I gained the dream of becoming a progamer was when I watched GGPlay win the Daum OSL. He pulled off a complete reversal to win the OSL 3:2, and I was very touched when I watched him hug his father afterwards. I thought to myself, “ah, I also want to be able to do that” and obtained my dream to become a progamer.
2. What do you think of your nickname, 4th-dimension toss? (t/n: 4th-dimension is a term Koreans use for people who seem to live in their own world/are strange/etc.)
▲ I think it’s a very fitting nickname for me~ I feel I’ve also grown more attached to it. It’s a nickname I’ve had since the Elite School League keke.
3. We’re curious as to how long it takes you to come up with your strategic plays.
▲ Coming up with a strategic play doesn’t take long. It’s just that among those many strategic plays, not many are actually that great so picking a working play is the hard part that takes a long time.
4. We’ve heard you fight with Coach Zeus a lot as you guys formulate strategies together – is that true?
▲ Hm… personally I like to use whatever play I feel like using but Coach Zeus likes to come up with builds and strategies depending on the opponent so we did butt heads often. However, the person who always stands laughing at the end is Coach Zeus. TT__TT
5. You’ve mentioned you’re Nal_rA’s fan – are you close to him in real life?
▲ Nowadays Commentator Nal_Ra gives me a lot of help and advice and treats me very well. So I’ve been feeling comfortable with him and so I feel like we’ve gotten closer.
6. We’ve seen you since your Elite School League days- what do you think is the difference between being an amateur and a progamer?
▲ I’d have to say it’s the sense of responsibility. An amateur can go from dreaming of being a progamer to folding that and going into something else easily, but for progamers, gaming is their job and there’s a huge amount of time that’s invested in that so it’s not as easy to fold. Since progamers need to succeed, I believe they need to be a lot more responsible than amateur players.
7. When you see the dragons, what do you think?
▲ Though sometimes I get very jealous, I also believe there are a lot of negative aspects. Because the whole point of the “dragons” is that they took the 6 very best protoss players and tied them together, if they don’t produce results, people immediately criticize them and say they’re “slumping”. Also, other toss players are going to expect a lot out of the dragons so I feel like that would be even more pressure to deal with… But still, fighting to them!!!
8. It seems you’ve suddenly become the key protoss player for Hite – is there a secret to your sudden rise in performance?
▲ I initially had no fundamentals and sucked. On top of that, I didn’t practice that much so I became an invisible member of the team…
Then some time passed and I lost to Coach Side_LeGenD’s off-race and so I got extremely down on myself and angry. After that day, I worked extremely hard and then one day I made it through the prelims… I guess my skills have been improving. ^^
9. In your last match against STX in the proleague, how did you feel when your shuttle was caught by Kal?
▲ I really regretted that I had made a shuttle. I hated the proleague too. I wasn’t able to fully show what I had prepared so I thought to myself, “I still have a long way to go…”
10. What is the race you’re most confident against and the race you’re least confident against?
▲ I’m most confident in pvp. Maybe it’s because I’ve been confident in that matchup for a long time, but it’s still my most comfortable matchup. I’m least confident in… pvz? Pvt used to be hardest for me but in recent days pvz has been hard… TT___TT
12. Violet’s question / Your strategic play is really amazing. I’m curious about when you mainly think up those strategies; when your play is blocked how do you manage and do you ever think, “what do I do if my play is blocked”; what kind of mindset do you have as you use these strategic plays?
▲ At first I didn’t have the skill to win through management games so I would whine by myself and think of strategic plays instead. Then one day, even though I moaned and whined I couldn’t think of anymore strategic plays. (t/n: 4th-dimension toss…) So nowadays I work together with my teammates to come up with plays. Sometimes, I’ll be playing around when I’ll suddenly think of something. Hm… when my play is blocked, I rarely play the rest of the game. When I’m blocked, I take the time it would take for me to play the later game and use it to think of a tougher strategy keke. When I’m blocked, I try not to think “what do I do!” but rather, “if I’m blocked, oh well~”. I need to think like this otherwise the pressure I feel while using those strategies is too much. I also make less mistakes that way. In that aspect, Coach Side_legenD is really chill so he lessens the burden I feel~ keke.
13. It seems you have a bit of a feminine personality – what is your real personality like?
▲ Hm… I like pulling pranks and having fun in a lively, frivolous way keke.
14. Do you have an ideal type of girl?
▲ Nowadays I think my ideal girl is a girl who has a pretty voice and cooks well and has a cute style~
15. Who is a male singer and a female singer that you like?
▲ The male singer I like is Humming Urban Stereo and the female singer I like is YoJo.
16. Is there a funny event that happened in the team?
▲ Britney, Tazza and I went to eat Jook (t/n: congee) and while we were eating, suddenly a random ahjuhshi* came up to Britney and said, “please bring my car out front”. Britney was so shocked~ keke
17. In the team, which sunbae* is nicest to you and which sunbae is scariest to you?
▲ The sunbaes that are nice to me are go.go hyung and type-b hyung and the scariest sunbae is also go.go. In the team house go.go likes to point things out and scold me a lot~ He’s probably doing it for the better. I guess. Keke.
18. Please tell us about your hair style and how you take care of it.
▲ My hair is naturally straight and doesn’t have volume so it lays flat on my head a lot. It doesn’t look good so I try to raise it a bit but people who watch me think I’m pulling my hair out o__o;; Hm. I don’t take care of my hair in any special way besides washing it everyday at least once ^_^.
19. What’s the most recent movie you watched and who did you watch it with?
▲ I watched Transformers 2 with Tazza, Britney, and HoGiL. The first half was very entertaining but the latter half was a bit disappointing… -___-;;
20. Please tell us what you’ll be like a year from now.
▲ I’ll probably be depressed after receiving a letter for physical examination (for the army)... I’ll probably be a young man who lives for the next day~
- The next player you want to ask / One question you want to ask?
KillerEffort hyung (CJ Entus EffOrt) / When you’re on a win streak, I’m curious as to the mindset and your method for doing so. No matter how hard I try I can’t seem to pass 4-wins.
I loveee this kid.
