In my school it's like a extended program for the "most important" subjects in high school: math, literature, biology, geography, physics, chemistry. So if my classes ended at 13:00, people who applied for it would stay some more time to prepare for this extra exam. Once you got out of High School and sat for the exam, you get this degree which basically works like a presentation letter for universities (aka, you get higher chances to get into them). It was very dumb for them to try it in my country, since most universities here (specially the good ones) let anyone in. So it was only good if you were planning to study abroad. Also my high school program was at par with what the IB exam asked for except for some silly thesis you had to do, so the extra hours were usually wasted. | ||
