Well, there are all sorts of good stories... like the amount of duct tape that is used back stage in a hurry in lieu of undergarments... the substances that are used to keep swimsuits in place... the tackleboxes full of makeup and jewelry that some girls end up with... the 10 hour days we spent dancing on our feet in heels... My favorite, though, was how, during pageant week and at our rehearsals prior, they would talk sooo much about eating right and excercise, and then they would provide us with a sponsored lunch where, at the end of the buffet table, there were TONS of chocolates, sweets, cookies, etc. All the girls would like, look at it longingly and then go back to their iceburg salad. NOT I!
One time in particular, I had been complaining for days about how effing much I wanted a brownie. I eat a lot of baked goods, and when all your meals are from sponsors, you can't exactly make that request. My diet is such that I satisfy all my cravings and thus, never binge eat. I really like brownies, okay? Like, to the point where I was jittery and irritable after not having any for a week. Well, this one day, I think it was the very day before the pageant, they served us up the hugest, moistest, most delicious platter of brownies you have ever seen. Most of the girls grabbed a salad and walked by it wistfully....looking at it as if it was the most beautiful, unattainable thing they had ever seen. This poor, huge pile of brownies, left all by it's lonesome! I, on the other hand, sang for joy, did a little dance, and took three. Everyone looked at me in shock, expecting me to be embarrassed, but I just wolfed them down with the happiest smile on my face you ever did see. Before long, almost all the beauty queens were picking at brownie crumbs lol. Then, when I was on stage being interviewed the next day for the top 5, they asked me a question like, if they were to give me a donut on stage right now, would I eat it? and the entire backstage erupted in laughter. Apparently, I talked about baked goods even more than I thought. On stage, in response, I asked that someone bring me a box of brownie mix so that I could bake them in my room after the show. They did.
