I have no idea how it's going to happen, I very highly doubt that it will happen, but if it does? It will be glorious! For some reason I have a hunch that Parting will upset Maru here. Strange, since I'm also confident that Dark will crush TY. Even though it would be great to see Maru vs Dark again, I just can't shake the feeling that it won't happen.
Parting is definitely the dark horse here, mostly because of his play style. But if we really think about it, Parting is playing well enough that him beating Maru wouldn’t be out of the world.

And it's actually ridiculous to say 'top thirty' prior to 2018. He was easily top 5 even before his four GSL wins. Greatest proleague player of (arguably all time) SC2. OSL, SSL, WESG and consistently high placement in GSL, even in the era when he and innovation were the only ones even qualifying for GSL. I bet if you went back to December 2017 and asked players to rank each other 1-10, Maru would be on 100% of the lists. Otherwise nice write-up. Yeah in retrospect 30 is really low (I picked a conservative multiple of ten off the top of my head) and Maru is a borderline top-ten player at the time (Maru wins WESG in 2018, btw). At the end of 2017, I think we're looking at INnoVation, sOs, Mvp, Nestea, MC and Zest as locks, and you can have a pretty healthy debate with guys like Rain, Maru, MMA, TaeJa, ByuN, DRG, MKP, soO, Classic, Polt, Leenock, etc to be top ten or not No chance Maru isn't ahead of ByuN, DRG, MMA, Polt, Leenock, or MKP. Even pre 4 GSLs, none of them can match his proleague record or performance in starleagues (during kespa). If you look at only korean events (specifically starleagues/proleague) it's not even close. Hell, if you look season by season during HotS, he was the best terran in korea more times than even INno was.
(here's a fun fact for the GOAT argument, over every starleague season since 2013, Maru did better 14, INno in 5, and they had one season with the same finish)
