Does it save record between gateways? Mostly I'm interested in getting games quickly, ideally against people better than me, which shouldn't be hard. I'm currently in Eastern Europe with a good connection (500/100). Get a VPN to Korea (mudfish), so that way you'll get game instantly at every time of a day.

You will find plenty of people to play, it will just take a few hard losses for you to settle in a stable MMR if you're truly new to the game. There are Discors channels for finding games against noobs as well, let me know if you want a link (am on mobile now, can't be arsed).

Do people in states connect to Korea or is it just that popular over there? I'd definitely be interested in a discord for finding games instead of just laddering randos, when you have a chance to send me info.

Keep in mind that regardless of where you connect from or to, ladder is "global" in that it connects you to the people who have the best connection to you and who have the closest MMR to you, so it doesn't really matter what gateway you choose. Just got home (quicker than expected), here are the main English-speaking Discords for BW players. Copied from my Twitch page so pardon any formatting irregularities: LMaster's Beginner StarCraft Discord: https://discord.gg/B8JjVEh You can find me at the above Discord channel as ChoboSwaggins. It is a community centered around providing a casual meeting point and place of learning for everyone ranging from total noobs to more advanced players. Other Brood War Discord channels: CPL (Coach Pupil League): https://discord.gg/6e6CHud *A league for new players that has weekly team matches when in-season, a casual hang out for lower ranked players out of season.* FBW (Foreign Brood War): https://discord.gg/yvQxsmw *Largest English-speaking Brood War community.* NHFFA (No Hunters Free For All): https://discordapp.com/invite/kWNQvnd *Community for fans of the casual "Free For All" game mode.* SSCAIT (Student StarCraft AI Tournament): https://discord.gg/QrxqjbY *Leading SC AI Discord, for those interested in coding, Brood War AI, etc.*

Glad to learn that laddering goes across regions. I just finished my placement ranks and got put in D so that's a pretty good start lol
