As before, PM me for audio books. The best post-apo world is Dark Sun. A D&D settings, which also had some computer games based on it. It's a pity it's been forgotten now since it's one of the best settings ever. Basic premise is that to use magic you had to drain life from the surrounding area and people as usual overused it and turned the world into a wasteland. It really turns some fantasy tropes on its head, with elves being nomadic thieves and assassins, cannibal halflings, bards being specialists in poisoning etc. To quote some opinions on it: Dark Sun is essentially a grimdark post-apocalyptic mix of D&D, Edgar Rice Burrough's Mars series, and Dune. The game is set in the world of Athas, a dying planet. Once full of happiness and sunshine, the planet was drained of all resources during the long and rich history the creators came up with. There is no water, no minerals, and no hope: only cannibal halflings, a lot of sand and a dying sun. The world is so fucked up it makes Mad Max's setting look like a hippie paradise. The "Rise of Skywalker" title is a smart title from a commercial perspective. Episode 9 includes a new slave character similar to Leia when she was being held captive by that giant fat thing with the big mouth.... + Show Spoiler + On April 10 2019 20:05 Manit0u wrote: The world is so fucked up it makes Mad Max's setting look like a hippie paradise. i think its always been this fucked up... or worse... its just that the average person didn't know it. The "Rise of Skywalker" title is a smart title from a commercial perspective. It's also completely incoherent as far as what defenders were saying what was good about VIII- moving away from Skywalkers as the centre of the trilogies (despite that supposedly being the point of the the sequel trilogy- all the other films were supposed to branch out) and then moving away from the 'problematic' Jedi to where everyone has access to the Force. This just looks like we're retconning RJ's retcon. No plan. No(t very much) interest. Sunken Death Star is at least thematically consistent with VIII- another thing from the OT that is now old and broken. edit Frick. That had laughing guy at the end had better not be a resurrected Emperor. I swear this series has no idea what to do with villains and patching the Emperor into the end would be just a joke.

Well, in the EU he did get brought back to life numerous times (he had a cloning facility for the clones of himself). Still, it doesn't change the fact that they have to bring back the old characters because they can't come up with anything even remotely interesting and that's really sad. This trailer got exactly zero emotion from me. In reality I couldn't even care less if they decided to never release another SW movie again, ever. I would just shrug my shoulders at such an announcement and move on. This teaser did not make me rethink this stance at all - it looks like it'll be boring as fuck.

With Lucas's original trilogy we got a straight forward, simple story. It worked. We ain't splittin' the atom here. Its an action-movie, popcorn-flick with really expensive special effects. These guys are tripping over themselves trying to turn the plot into the 21st century's answer to "Gone With The Wind". "Frankly

Yeah, but Dark Empire actually committed to the bit and built an entire story around it. Tacking Palps on at the end because they didn't know how to set up their villain properly and were left with an angry child and a punching bag is incredibly weak. Why have totally not-Emperor Snoke if you are going to do nothing with him and then just have the real Emperor in the last film. Garbage plotting. Yet people eat this up: Fuck it would be SO cool if The Emperor was force ghost training Kylo and was behind everything. 3.6K upvotes.Fuck it would also give extra meaning to Snoke's death. Kylo wasn't just killing the Supreme Leader he was also killing a "fake" master. Do people even know about foreshadowing? About properly setting up your reveals? These sorts of rewrites are incredibly easy to do: *end credits of Episode IX, Thanos appears. "Secretly, it was me the whole time!" Fanboy "Woah! So much meaning. This changes everything." *end of the end of the credits* "It was all a Dream!" Woah! So deep. This changes everything! Yeah it changes everything- By rewriting your entire plot at the end of the story. It's a meaningless retcon

The whole point of a trailer is to get people talking about a movie that isn't out yet. And if it fails to get people excited for said movie its failing in its job as a trailer. And yes Falling, the "no one is really gone"+ emperor laughing really feels like they ran out of idea's. It also completely lacks substance. Yes a trailer should not spoil the movie but it should give something to tease you with. To draw you in and want to see what happens. This is just a few cuts of 'remember these people, they are in the movie' and a nice set piece that again just goes 'remember this previous movie?'
