Even johnson said it was a good punch but nothing extraordinary, Rogan made it a bigger deal than it was. Apart from this one punch (the rest landed on his arm) johnson landed nothing and got mauled on the ground for the other half the round to the point that he never recovered. However i think that it's crazy that conor is an underdog this fight, there is definitely the space for him to seriously hurt khabib in the first two rounds, i don't think he has to KO him necessarily in the first two rounds but he needs to hurt him. I also think conor is good enough on the ground to survive, i just feel it will drain his energy too much. Great matchup anyway, i hope the fight will deliver and that it won't be one sided on way or the other, i want to see both these guys show what they can do. If i had to bet considering the current odds ( implied odd 40% win chance for conor) i would bet for conor he has the tools to win and the pressure on Khabib is enormous. edit: crazy view of the ceremonial weigh-ins from the stage: https://www.instagram.com/p/BoksoqDg-aI/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=1qozuema2xq9u Crazy energy

Rogan and Cruz say he was wobbled and hurt. the guy in the middle of the fight can often can't accurately recall the events of a fight.... corollary of that is they can and will mis-analyze any instant moment of a fight. Holly Holm thought she took down Ronda Rousey in the 2nd round after the fight. Holm's take down occurred in the 1st round. I can found a thousand other examples of fighters mis-remembering the events of a fight. i'll go with Rogan and Cruz. Unless of course you want to claim Holm successfully performed a take down on Rousey in the 2nd round of their fight...

I hope so too but I don't think it's going to be a close match-up, either it's going to blow up on a standing position, or on the ground, each of them are too good compared to the other with their main weapon. Conor has sick backward takedown defence but if he's on the ground, I can't see him do anything against a half guard specialist like Khabib. He doesn't need full mount to maul his opponent. Even safer this way. But I agree with you, those odds on Khabib make it a pretty good bet on Conor, I'd have put him as a slight underdog at worst.

And if you listen to rogan you would think that diaz was lighting conor up round 3 of conor-diaz II, eventhough conor was rolling with the punches and diaz was hitting arms. Good news for me, i can watch the fight for free with my internet provider, i won't have to rely on shitty streams .

Also is it even humanly possible to defend against khabib once taken down? It looks like impossible to do anything to escape lol dang. And also what happens if you have two ground and pounders, if they both go for a takedown is it just like wrestling to see who can get position? All the fights I've seen it looks like only one person is really going for takedowns but it might just be coincidence. I don't follow UFC much but just kinda tuned in since this seems really interesting.

Like with McGregor everyone knows to watch out for the left hand, but has there ever been someone super lethal with both? Is it just a matter of stance, i.e.would that just mean they switch between orthodox and southpaw and both hands are good? Also is it even humanly possible to defend against khabib once taken down? Something like that, 6:30 ET is when the main card is supposed to start. So far pretty nice fights, just going out to grab my beer, and the night will really begin. I have a couple bets with friends on McGregor, so we'll see. I need to make it back from bets on GGG S:

Odd how you could give a 10-8 round in either the Waterson or the Pettis fight.

i like how when they introduce him they don't say "Jiu-Jitsu Specialist" or "Gold Medal Judo Athlete" or "4 time Kick BOxing World Champion"... he is introduced as "A Brawler"
