As promised, another blog dedicated to YellOw
Ask around staff for which their favorite starleague was and you'll get two starleagues continually popping up. It comes as no surprise that these Starleauges are EVER 2004 and So1 OSL. While the former has its finesse and brilliance in it's own right, personally i prefer the latter for a number of reasons. You had the story of Boxer's comeback, the PvT struggle on 815, the newcomers Pusan and Anytime blasting everything that moved and many brilliant games.
Given the current state of Starcraft, and the fact that typically OSL games suck until the Ro8, So1 is unique in that the opening night had both an historic and inspiring game on the brand new map 815. The debut of 815 to the OSL would bring out the best in an old favorite and an underrated newcomer. Indeed, despite the matchup, the game was highly anticipated. This is one of the great unsung great games, and it holds the record for the longest ZvZ in televised matches.
Yes people I am talking about the legendary YellOw vs GGPlay @ 815 from So1 OSL.
YellOw, at this time, was still a rather dominant force in progaming. He was hot off his Snickers All-Star win over Nada; a feat which was impressive given Nada's resurgence and "Perfect TvZ" (SK Terran). But looking forward from So1, YellOw misses Shinhan 2005 then comes back for his "comeback" run in Shinhan 1 OSL; only to drop off immediately after doing so. His opponent, GGPlay, was largely considered a noob by TL.net despite making EVER2005 and going 2-1 (before losing in a tiebreaker to July and Midas). So1 was GGplay's second ever OSL, and no one really expected anything of him - let alone his game against YellOw.
A little bit of nostalgia for you hehe
+ Show Spoiler [game spoiler] +
This game is a testament to YellOw's mastery of the entire Zerg tech tree. After being disadvantaged right from the word go as GGPlay pulled ahead. Then YellOw clawed his way back into the game using every facet of Zerg technology imaginable. This is great game and a perfect example of why we miss YellOw today, he plays like a baller
