If you'd prefer to wait for the first expansion to see what direction they're headed in or whatever, then that's fair enough, but there's certainly enough game there already for me to be hooked.

pics + Show Spoiler + The whole 'war participation' thing is pretty badly thought out imo.

The battle planner does interact weridly with coasts but I've never had a problem with it. after 40-60 hours you'll never be able to live without it. the AI is terrible if you find the exploits. like sending paratroopers into GB (for some reason 6 is enough to take the whole islands which is just werid. Seriously? You want to tell me the Army AI works fine on a detailed level? It will get the job done if you have the numbers, as the enemy uses the exact same routines and is qually as bad. For some reason it will in many cases just not move in to empty provinces. Not even provinces that would be harder to defend or something. In other cases 5 of your divisions stare down one single division of the enemy and don't decide to punch through. And then there are occasions when the AI thinks it's a great idea to run with one colonial division in 2 full infantery division in a completely open field. I had given my colonial french troops the order to advance from algiers along the coast towards alexandria, not stepping into sahara and then made sure to win the front by sending 5 tank and 8 motorized divisions that i controlled directly. i quickly overwhelmed the front, encircled large amounts of troops and ran into some trouble around bengasi. My motorized/tanks then cut towards the east to finish off bengasi later, but the AI charged forward, did not wait for a reasonable frontline, running the first unit to catch up to the fast spearhead into the enemy. If you draw your battle plan, click engage and check back later, you will have advanced the front. But if you actually look what the AI is doing, it often makes no sense. It looks like it will advance exactly in the way you can see when you hover over the arrow and if it can't take a province it needs, it will just not take others.

Like have a very short maybe 2 provice as your starting off front for the tanks or your offensive army. Then draw another 2 province line further in. and then another. they will take that land quickly. But you can't ask for an army you've tasked with holding an entire front to jepordize that first objective with the orders of the second objective.

Conquered the world as the UK (or the "British Empire" to be more precise, since I went Fascist) and got the "One Empire" achievement, but unfortunately there's no way to annex/integrate or declare on those who are my puppets, nor to release those in my faction so that I can dow them. I switched to Communist to get them to leave the Allies, but no luck. Finally I switched back to Democratic. Unlocked every tech and got max infrastructure in every state. + Show Spoiler + edit - apparently I'm the first person to get that achievement. Woo!

Also, if you look in your training/deployment tab, you can hover over the two progress bars and see what they need to be able to deploy. It shows what equipment and training they need, but remember if it's an emergency you can deploy divisions early (with only 20/100 training).

Poland, being freed by the allies, turned fascist. I released czecheslovakia and austria from germany with my points and took 4 south western german provinces as france. The netherlands, belgium and others changed the government of IRan, Iraq and Italia to democratic, UK did not take anything and Yogoslavia took all italian provinces except one and all german provinces except one. WTF????

Given the flaws in AI control, you definitely should take it if you can supply them. As far as I know, when you get them, they are basically yours so you are responsible for the manpower and equipment that needs to be replenished as they fight.

But I found a nice bug. If you declare on lots of countries at the same time, the USA will only ask you once to stop one war. So you declare on Guatemala, Panama, Honduras, El Salvador, Dominican Republic and all those other weaklings at the same time, and then the US tells you "STOP FIGHTING GUATEMALA", you give in to their threat, and then you still have war with Panama, Honduras etc. and the US won't do anything about those wars. However, if you then save and load your game, the US will tell you to stop all those wars. Then you can do it again if you want another war. For example if you then want to fight Colombia, you justify a war against Colombia and Mexico, declare on them both, the US tells you to stop it against Mexico, and you get to keep your war with Colombia. I haven't quite figured out how the USA determine which one of the countries they choose to protect. I think it might be alphabetical, because he really liked to protect Ecuador in my game. (Then again, I got Costa Rica, but I think I may have conquered them before the USA had the time to complain). I don't think the order in which you declare the wars matters though.
