Gauntlet StarCraft ramps up for 2016 with a brand new "seasons" format, with 12 straight weeks of events happening every Monday! At the end of the 12 weeks, there will be a global finals with a starting prize pool of $1,000 usd! Below is a look at the schedule and format.
Monday Night Gauntlet Season 1 Schedule
Q represents the Open Bracket qualifiers, open to EU and NA region players
- Schedule alternates. EU Server for 2 weeks, then NA for 2 weeks, keep in mind the qualifiers are open to all EU and NA regional players.
$300 Monday Night Gauntlet Format
Seeds 1-3 are invited players, if you're active and showing good games, give us a shout and we'll consider you as an invite!
- 4 Players, Double Elimination. (Grand Finals is winner take all Best of 7)
- Winner is automatically qualified for the Season Finals.
- 3 Players are invited, 1 player qualifies through the EU/NA Open Bracket qualifier that happens one week prior to every $300 "Monday Night Gauntlet"
- Players do vetoes, then higher seeded player gets to pick map first
or server (in the case of cross server play) first, then alternate. - Best of 3 series for all matches except for the best of 7 Grand Finals
Open Bracket "Wildcard" Rules
- Open to all EU/NA players living within their respective region. "Region" as it is represented on ladder, so AUS/SEA players are allowed to play.
- Qualifiers will be played on Mondays, on the same server that the following Monday Night Gauntlet will be played. See schedule above.
- Qualifiers will be best of one series until the Ro8. Ro8 onward will be best of three series.
- The winner of the qualifier will be invited to the $300 event, with a chance to play vs the best EU and NA has to offer.
- Qualifiers currently have no prize pool associated with the event, we think this will discourage some of the better known pro's from competing, giving the underdog a chance to make it to the paid event.
- Sign Up for this Monday, February 22 Qualifier here!!
$1,000 Season Finals Format
The 2016 Season 1 Finals will be a 16 player, single elimination tournament. Each $300 Monday Night Gauntlet winner (6 players total) gets invited to the $1000 Gauntlet Season Final that will be hosted on the ESL PLAY site later this year.
10 invitations will be sent to the winners of other community events, such as Feardragon's Ladder Heroes. Keep in mind that these are purely invitations, and by no means an obligation. We are always on the lookout for up and coming players, and will be closely watching other community tournaments. There's a good chance that if you win a community tournament, you will be invited to the season finals for a chance at the $1,000 prize pool!
Disclaimer ~ It's entirely possible we get repeat winners from community events or even the Monday Night Gauntlet events themselves. Depending on how many slots we need to fill for the finals, we will either host a qualifier for the season finals or we will invite the runner-ups from our events.
Happy to announce that we have partnered with OSC and our Season Finals will have OSC points associated with it! Our NA server events are also open to bounties and bonuses!
- 1st - 300 OSC Points
- 2nd - 200 OSC Points
- 3rd - 150 OSC Points
- 4th - 80 OSC Points
- 5th-8th 40 OSC Points Each
Oseanic StarCraft 2 Championship Series
What is OSC?
For those who are unaware, The Oseanic StarCraft 2 Championship (OSC) is the Oceanic, South East Asian, North American and Chinese regional championship, which follows a yearly season format, where players earn points for placing in all partnered tournaments. Although the network is based in and focuses on these regions, many events are open to everyone in the world.
The top 32 players ranked via the OSC Player Leader board at the end of the season are then invited to play in the $7000+ Grand Finale to determine the yearly champion! OSC World Rankings were established in December 2012.
In 2015 OSC partnered tournaments gave away $49885 combined prizepool, we had 190 completed partnered tournaments (up 22% on 2014), and saw 498 individual players with points earned (up 39% on 2014)
Solar was 2015's Champion, taking out the $5000 finals series.
GuMiho was 2014's Champion, taking out the $3500 finals series.
PiG was 2013's Champion, taking out the $2100 finals series.
We are really excited for this new format and are looking forward to 2016! Hopefully this thread presents the plan in a clear way, but please let me know if there is any confusion. Players who wish to be invited can drop a line on this thread or they are welcome to send me an email at GauntletSC2@gmail.com and we'll go from there. We are actively seeking out players and booking events now, so please don't delay!
Best of luck to all of the players!
