So, I have a problem.
Recently I started to write a story about skypirates! unfortunately my protagonist got tossed through a window in the first chapter and fell down to earth.
Now my problem is this world she landed in.
In my head it's a little like medieval Europe during the heaviest of Christianity. However this is also a world where corpses sometimes rain from the sky as skypirates! sometimes do combat. So what my conundrum is how much would the christian religion change if during its whole creation corpses fell from the sky.+ Show Spoiler +Technically they aren't corpses it's just that the black cloud layer as i chosen to call the bottom of the sky makes you faint, so in the eyes of the people of the ground they are usually dead
My own 2 cents right now is either they think they are people who where judged not worthy of heaven but then wouldn't they go to hell? Or maybe in my world hell is Aethism you dont get an ending at all your soul is just erased and your corpse gets tossed, ooo I like that thought.
or they are fallen angels, but fallen angels whouldnt dress like pirates now whould they? Also do skypirates! dress like pirates... Probably if an ahutor wanna make it easy for himself and the sailing conditions are problaby samy with a lot of wind and cranky ships.
Or we could go the Buddhism way and say earth is the toil and if you arent worthy you get tossed back down but then it requires for the earth religion creators to know that the tossed people are alive when they fall which some of the head bishops probably know maybe its a deep held secret to keep the populous calm, damn I like where this story of mine is going. maybe I should mix all of it. Deep held secrets strict religions Hmm I think there is a book in here somewhere.
tl;dr Would a religion change if during its growth corpses sometimes fell from the sky.
Answer: Yes probably.
Damn, I mean I dont even need readers I just need to talk to myself, Is that what a blog is?
Hang on a second, if the black cloud layer is always there and always black doesn't that mean earth people don't get a sun just shit dark weather hmm and that's probably gonna have an inprint as well.
Also if you are worried about my story because the grammatic state of this blog, don't be I don't write in English, I just ramble in it :D

If there is always clouds the distance to the sun would most likely be different or the size/output of the sun. The plants and animals as well. Since they would have adapted to different solar/stellar radiation compared to our planet. To have people there you would have to import them from somewhere or have the weather change from normal earth.
Consider a volcanic eruption or large body striking a planet. Ice age. They would live in what we consider permanent ice age if they revived the same amount of radiation as us.
A different way to solve it would be with https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tidal_heating . Would make for interesting situations and buildings.

This idea of having a place almost like Medieval Earth, only with weirdly changed rules of nature and watching what differences evolve not only in religion, but in society, politics etc... seems quite interesting. I bet someone has done it already, but the possibilities are almost endless.

You can just take your writing a bit more seriously and spend time in an actual medieval society to get a better idea of how awful and backwards life was back then.
Any Muslim majority country will do.

The Muslim majority countries are better than medieval ones were.

Unless you're a woman. Or Christian. Or jew. Or openly gay. Or you drink in public. Or you're an atheist. Or you disagree with the Mullahs.

Why do you feel the need to bring your agenda to an unrelated thread?
|
Haha brilliant.
I would say there would have to be a special caste of untouchables whose job it was to gather up the corpses and burn them in huge piles.
|
have the protagonist awaken and the previous events were all just in a dream. the protagonist walks over to their computer.. presses f4, clicks on "Automatch", and begins grumbling about Terran Mech.
|
on second thought people would definitely just eat them

I was worried for you until I read this hahaha
I tried to participate and understand you but it was indeed too much ramble =/
Either way it seems that you have a suitable mind state (guy with lots of crazy ideas) to be writing a fantasy story, good luck

Everything has changed... I just realised that ships must also fall and probably a lot of trash or maybe not trash skypeople probably have strict recycling with the limited resource and all.
I was thinking that the cool characters job was to be a scavenger of the desserts where he just roams abandon places and finds silver cutlery from the sky.
And on the point of cannibalism, maybe if the fallen bodies are considered soulripped and not worthy for heaven then maybe they aren't sacred enough to be let alone. However to keep the secret safe about the fact they are alive when they fall I think an inquisition a really scary one goes around and deals with it swiftly. I mean I can see the story now:
Main character wakes, shes been hidden in a shed by a farmhand Thes prisets shows upp looking for the fallen She runs finds a cool guy whose job it it to scavange abandoned land for silverware that for some reason lies all over the ground.
I mean if a movie starts with a broken ship atop a mountainside that's gonna drag in a little bit of interest.
Also if anyone is interested I could translate the first chapter and post it but It's long and I'm a bit shy and gigantic blogs feels rude for some reason and and... It isn't located in the shithole interesting place that is the earth, First chapter is purely in the sky.

What if the protagonist is actually a robot!?

The real question is, which of the dead people falling from the sky is jesus?
