this is why its so important for people to have role models as they are growing up.
if you don't have your own positive experiences to support you and recall then you need to get them from someone else.
personally i would do things like pretend i was day9 and be like "how would day9 perceive this" and try to emulate his emotional state. or like "incontrol wouldnt be phased by this, i should try to be like him"
or pretend i was like cloud or a super saiyan or guts from berserk
now i just put on some idol bands and they seem to do the trick :/
this is totally the wrong blog isnt it

it was directed at your last vlog (the long ranty one) where you said it helped you to recall previous positive experiences to give you confidence in new situations
my point was that this doesnt really work for people who haven't actually had previous positive experiences
then at 5am i thought "yeah but you can remedy that by drawing on other people's positive experiences and feeding on that energy"
anyway yeah

Ah okay, I had no idea you were refering to that, I agree!

For some reason I've gathered up the courage to explain my thoughts about these blogs you post. A while ago, I posted on one of these, I made some disparaging comments about your youtube video, mocking it or something. And I recall your answer was sober and reasonable, unlike my post. Since then, I've been rolling my eyes whenever I saw a new ShoCkSC2 blog.
To me, you always came off as a sort of motivational speaker, a group of people that I strongly associate with: 1- Bullshit generic advice 2- Make money by selling books and generic advice 3- General cockholery and snake oil
But you seem to be a nice guy, and you don't seem to be rolling in gold from your work (so far!). So what are you about, why are you making these? What drives you?
Cheers

Hey Djapz, Its really nice of you to make a post just to say that. First of all, I respect that you had your doubts/have your doubts. Reminds me of myself, I would probably think the same the first time I see something like that. People earn my respect over time so thats not new to me. So from where youre coming from, I can relate to your initial reaction.
Why I am doing this is a good question. And here is several answers that are all true:
-I kind of love public speaking/presentating about topics that I am passionate about. I could talk about this stuff for hours and I do so with my friends, but I also enjoy doing videos on it. So one of the reasons is, I just love to talk about it.
-I am generally really happy with my progress that I'm doing in the self-help department. I made so much progress in my life through just wanting to change and trying to find the right approach to it that I somtimes just want to share this feeling. I want other people to experience this too. Its so cool to have these amazing moments of "fuck this is awesome" and talk about it with other people. So I guess another reason would be that I want other people to see how awesome it can be to work on yourself and how heavily we can change as people.
-But I also have selfish reasons. I also do this to remind myself of these concepts, deeply ingrain them into my brain. The more I talk about it, the more I think/share about it and produce content about it the more I remind myself of it. Its sort of like small reminders like writing this comment now that makes me think back to what I have been talking about in this video. So you could say, another reason is to keep myself on track by spending more time on these topics.
And to generalize: I am really trying to create myself an awesome life. Its what fuels me when I get up in the morning. I want to be different and I want to make a difference. I want to get up there and then share that experience with other people. I just always felt like that, its sort of my path to self-fullfilment I guess.
