A dedicated fan of mine has been looking to support the NA scene but struggled to run the tournaments on his own so after talking things through with him, we are launching the desRow's Weekly NA Tournament series. We have funding for a total of 6 months and potentially more depending on player attendance and so on. We will also have a 200$ monthly final. I'll also be paying a different co-caster every week to come co-cast with me. The tournament is open to anyone so come test your skills in this weekly cup .
Saturday, May 09 10:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00)
If you have any questions about the tournament you can tweet at me @desRowfighting on Twitter!

Great initiative! This seems unsustainable. I hope that I'm wrong.

Yeah there's a few things missing like the rules. It's Loser pick pre determined map like Zotac/Go4SC2 used to be and Koreans and Europeans will be allowed in which hopefully should help the ladder. Still not sure on 75$/25 or 100$ maybe I should strawpoll it ?

Awesome des!! Will definitely tune in!

Definitely signing up for this since it's open to all leagues. Thanks Desrow!

I'm struggling to understand how allowing Koreans to play in a tournament will help the NA ladder. That's like hosting a platinum tournament on EU, but allowing NA GM's and saying "maybe it will help the ladder." I thought Mike Morhaime was trolling. Please don't make me doubt this. If not, we're completely screwed.

If not, we're completely screwed. Ever since the Koreans were removed from WCS NA, there is no way to play against them. They also have no reasons to log on NA anymore because there is no weekly cups for the NA scene. If the sign-ups are decreasing because of a wave of koreans that are dominating the tournament, I might region lock it but for now I don't see it as a problem

People play in tournaments for a chance to win, not to "practice" versus Koreans. In BW, everyone got to play their fare share against Korean pro gamers, as they made their way back up to their true rank, each season. It was cool, but obviously it did nothing in regards to helping us even come close to their level. We've all had the privilege of being rekt by Hydra on ladder, yet no one has developed Korean level P vs Z.
NA needs more people who can dedicate more time to practicing, rather than everyone being able to spend their 3 hours of spare time, each week, being Polt's floor mat.
There is no NA scene, because of Mike Morhaime talking like you are. No one actually believes this helps the scene. This is just something people say to sell you BS, that casual people will think "hey, that makes sense." It's PR. It's not real. Everyone besides maybe a handful of people, are always able to practice versus players that are better than them... A few tournament games is next to meaningless. Probably more demotivating thing anything.

This is pretty exciting!
I hope we see decent participation.

Like I said in my previous post and I sort of agree with you. if a few koreans joins and end up winning every week and it hurts the sign-ups I will region lock but for now it's anybodys game

That's cool. I commend you for trying to run some tournaments. I just thought it was common sense from the get go that WCS changes in 2013 would be the death of this game. I just think some things are inevitable, and, in that case, you should proceed as if it has already happened. Just don't insult people like WCS and have Hydra win every tournament because he got a Visa

very cool man, the NA scene really needs stuff like this.I hope this get huge and your the next basetrade GL to everyone. also have you thought of using community made maps that have won something or fan votes, might be cool. again very cool GL all.
