RULES:
- Player Maximum: A maximum of 16 players can sign up for the tournament. Should more than 16 players sign up, players 17+ will be put on a waiting list. These players should still show up for check-in to be replacements.
- Check In: Players will need to present themselves in the chat channel by 00:00 GMT (+00:00). Players will be given no more than 5 minutes to arrive before they are disqualified.
- Chat Channel: MNS on Americas Server. This is where results will be reported to the Event Administrator (usually Vehk).
- Server: In all inter-server matches, Americas will be the default server. Home server will be default for all intra-server matches. Players may play on a different server than the default server ONLY if both players agree.
- Race Switching: Allowed between matches, NOT between maps.
- Game Invites: Only players and casters will be invited to casted games, no extraneous observers. If players choose to invite observers to non-casted games they are welcome to. The reason for this policy is to present a clean professional stream, encourage viewers to watch the stream, and eliminate as much lag and interruption as possible. Once you have finished a match, please wait for the casted match of the current round to finish before beginning your next match OR get permission to begin from the event admin in the chat channel. We would like to be able to show a variety of players, not follow the same player through the bracket. Also, depending on volunteer availability, the casters may need to be acting as administrators and we want to always have a match to present on stream.
- Series Length: All series prior to the finals will be BO3. Finals will be BO5.
- Vetoes: Each player will be able to veto one (1) map per match. The higher seeded player will veto first.
- Maps:
- Blue Storm
- Circuit Breaker
- Neo DeserTec
- Neo Destination
- Fighting Spirit
- Luna
- Neo Tau Cross
Starting Maps:- Round of 16: Neo Tau Cross
- Quarterfinals: Neo DeserTec
- Semifinals: Fighting Spirit
- Finals: Circuit Breaker

Big update!
This week's prize pool has been doubled thanks to a generous donation from overusedchewtoy! First place will take $35 and the runner-up will earn $15!
Is it possible for a forum admin to change the name of this thread to reflect the change in prize pool? I don't believe I can do that, so if one of you would like to I would appreciate it!

I doubt all will show up, so just join the chat channel online some minutes before it starts and ask if you can replace someone that does not show up and you'll probably have a spot.
|
OP now updated with the map pool and starting maps!
Also, even though the bracket is currently full, we always have a few no-shows, so sign up as an alternate and then come to chat channel MNS on Americas at 7:00pm EST tonight and you can probably still get a spot! We have 2 alternates currently, including Myrault!

I've never played starbow before, but from what I've seen so far, I think I could win a few games.

Me too. 1 base 15-minute semifinal games, where apparently people counter warp prisms and reavers with turrets... lol. I've played BW a lot and I've played SC2 a lot, and I just can't seem to get excited during these Starbow games. I guess because it's a lot newer and the builds aren't very refined, but still.
EDIT: Transition into carriers hahahaha. Win.

you guys are clueless, turret/tank is the most common response to 1 base Reaver. Arthur is an ex-SlayerS pro, he would demolish both of you with Reaver drops in either game.

1. I never said turret/tank is a bad response to reaver. 2. I never said I could beat Arthur or any of the players in the semi-finals or finals.
Maybe you shouldn't assume things about people (or innocent people) without reading first.
I'm sure I can beat the guy who tried to baneling bust and didn't know how to build spores. I'm sure I can beat the guy who tried to proxy gateways in his opponents base.
|
the guy (roof) who tried to baneling bust didn't realise that a) banelings don't deal extra dmg vs buildings b) didn't realise spores require an evo. maybe take your own advice and don't make assumptions, he's GM-high rank and would beat you pretty easily I'm sure.
obviously I was referring to the other guy about response to reavers, since he brought it up?

I think you mean he's GM rank in SC2... if you're in the top .001% of a game (Starbow) and don't even know the tech tree, then I'd imagine there's a problem lol.
|
SC2 skill obviously translate over to Starbow quite well, thus the idea that someone relatively low-ranked who's never played Starbow thinks he could easily beat a GM is ludicrous.

Well that depends on how good the other player is too, and clearly he'd have an advantage over someone who doesn't know the tech tree yet. Hypothetically high APM doesn't mean much if you don't know what to do with all your mouse clicks and keyboard buttons.

I know who Arthur is lol. And neither of us said we could beat Arthur. I merely remarked that it's funny that "turret/tank is the most common response to 1 base Reaver", because it clearly didn't work as defense any of those times, and it's awkward to watch mass static d going up around your base to try and chase down a warp prism/ shuttle. If anything, the result of that semifinals should show you that that response needs to be better figured out.

You did say "you guys," referring to both of us (since we were talking about it earlier).
But it's okay.
Congrats to Arthur for winning the tourney. His reaver play was amazing. And the scarabs don't seem like they're occasionally stupid anymore.

Glad to see you guys chatting about the tournament! If you missed it this thread will be updated with Spoiler Free YouTube VOD links later this week!

Thanks for the casting!

You're welcome! It's a lot of fun.
It is a lot of work, even to run just a small weekly event like MNS. But I really enjoy it so it's worth it.
|
@Vehk Will you be doing this next week, and when is the sign up available? I'm highly highly interested; also, is this open to all ranks?

Who's clueless? I've got clue aplenty.
