puCK vs. Guitarcheese I would call these the potato matches. Although Suppy is quite a lovely spud I just wish he was still full time :<

HuK vs. State -- Should be a close series, probably a 3-2 MaSa vs. Hydra -- Will be closer than most people think, I think Masa could take at least one map off Hydra. viOLet vs. Xenocider I see a verrry close upset. qxc vs. Kane -- Hopeful thinking, because god damn I love qxc. Suppy vs. Bails -- Suppy hasn't looked great lately, also Protoss. puCK vs. Guitarcheese -- Hard to say, though I think Puck is stronger. Polt vs. Semper -- Polt is a god. Scarlett vs. Astrea -- Will also be very close, I think Scarlett will squeak by with a 3-2.

MaSa vs. Hydra - Hydra 3-1. viOLet vs. Xenocider- As good as terran is I think this one will be ugly. 3-0 violet. qxc vs. Kane - This is fun! Both guys have a lot of motivation to make the next round. I like Kane 3-2. Close January 24th staring at 6:00 pm EST Suppy vs. Bails - Another great match. Bails is good so I think he can do it! 3-1. puCK vs. Guitarcheese - Another toss up. Honestly not sure who will win this. I'll say Puck 3-2 Polt vs. Semper - Polt rolls. 3-0 Scarlett vs. Astrea - Scarlett has been very susceptible to 2 base toss. Could be her undoing. Upset special Astrea 3-2 .

HuK vs State --- State wins MaSa vs Hydra --- Hydra hands down viOlet vs Xenocider --- viOlet hands down qxc vs Kane --- See you next season for qualifier Kane but your lose. Suppy vs Bails --- Suppy puCK vs Guitarcheese --- puCK from all-ins Polt vs Semper --- Polt hands down Scarlett vs Astrea --- As much as she dislikes Protoss she owns them pretty often, Scarlet hands down.

Is he really that good, was it a bad/sloppy day from Scarlett, or is she just losing her motivation with the possible retirement ahead? Astrea is an up and coming player, pretty good on ladder from what I hear, but Scarlett has barely been practicing lately and his 2-base style is just kind of good against her. HuK will lose, whether its 3-2, 3-1, 3-0 HuK wont pass State... and im a HUGE HuK fan! Even the Prime of 2014 didnt build on States skills. He might have been long time in Korea, but his progress was not as big as you think, when you think "being in Korea makes you Super-Saiyajin-Starcrafter". He didnt looked 2 well in his streams, it did not work out for him Korea at any tournament. On the other hand HuK has managed to still be relevant. WCS S3 he did well, while now rocking Koreans like Seed fell early. I am not a HuK fan, at no point, but he has this thing, to be on the point, when he has to (at his high limits). HuK vs State: -- 3:1 MaSa vs Hydra -- Hydra will fall here or go straight to round of 4. MaSa sometimes really strong, he could do the uppset. Not likely, but possible. viOlet vs Xenocide -- vioLet will take it qxc vs Kane --- Kane. After his qualificationmatch against Polt, he is ready for T and qxc will be send into retirement. Suppy vs Bails --- Suppy looked extremly good during Taiwan Qualifier only to be stopped by the koreans. He will take it puCk vs Guitarcheese -- Guitarcheese is for me a ladderhero. He might pull something out of the blue, but it is not likely Polt vs Semper -- poor Semper, Polt roflstomps this 3 0 Scarlett vs Astrea -- Scarlett is not dump. Even when Astrea uses as much great books as he can, she is the better player.

Of the favorites I think Hydra and Puck are the most vulnerable. qxc vs Kane is the best matchup on paper I think. It feels like qxc is at the tail of his career and Kane should probably take it, but I can't say with confidence who the better player is.

Cause state has been training in Korea for a long time and was on prime and HuK hasn't been at the top of the foreign players for a while, plus state 2-0'd huk in the qualfier.

So while state has been bombing out of qualifiers in Korea, Huk has been consistently been one of the top players in North America since 2010. This isn't like a random bo3 in a qualifier. It's a high profile bo5 that both players will get ample time to prepare for. Training in Korea (and bombing out to mid/low tier Koreans) isn't going to make you better than a player who has had countless competitive series against top Korean and Foreign pros for years. But what do I know? I don't think I've ever seen state actually play.
