Hey guys,
For those of you who have not heard Evil Geniuses (Good Game Agency) has been purchased by Twitch (Amazon) in a cordial take over. Everyone involved in the acquisition has been as iNcontroL put it "taken care". His demeanor and diction indicating that this was a decently lucrative situation for members and owners of the GGA organisation. Every member is reported of the organisation is reported to be getting a chunk of the buy out value. The dollar figure associated with the acquisition at this time is not yet released (with no indication it will be). Twitch has no intention of over lording the company but instead to "give them tools" (iNcontroL) to help grow what they have already started.
What I care about is preferential treatment and the relationship between EG and Twitch in terms of access. More in the video.
DISCLAIMER: It is not my intent to offend or incite controversy but instead think about the possible repercussions of this acquisition as a viewer, stream, esports enthusiast and over all gamer. These are just the questions and concerns that occurred to me.

What do you mean? It is just posted directly to my blog, I did not post it any where else? It is just my thoughts on the topic, not an announcement I thought people would be unaware of.

Is this good or bad? or simply who cares?

let the profiteering begin, and im not talking about eg, twitch or amazon

I think OP meant that this is his blog where he posts a video talking about his opinion on the matter... You know... the kind of things people usually post in blogs.
|
And now having watched your video I would like to say that...
I don't think Twitch is going to do anything to put it's players ahead of anyone else. They already sponsor multiple teams, and don't do anything that puts them ahead of any other streamer. What I think we will see is that Twitch will leverage their players/content creators to promote new features and things, as well as run events around these teams to try and grow twitch and push the boundaries of what streamers can do.
Having an organization like GG gives you a way to run tournaments and things, and if you look at GG they don't only allow GG teams to compete in GG events, they open them to everybody and they have always done that

I completely agree that Twitch's actions in the past have been nothing but outstanding in regards to propping up multiple teams and organisations. The difference between sponsoring and owning is pretty severe how ever. Sponsoring is highly liquidable investment in so far as, as soon as it seems not worth it, you simply no longer sponsor. Owning a team has more long term implications and different outlooks.
I think Twitch is bound to be sensitive to any decision they make in how it impacts other streamers, but increased prioritization is not totally out of the question. I think there will be an increased interest put on GG teams, but as to how, I think is incredibly murky.
Appreciate all the input from everyone.

Hi, I just think that if they do something like "lets put GG teams on the front page" it would be OK, if you liked them watch them if you don't like them well just go and search for other streamers, I think that at this point we all have subscribed or know what streamers or what type of content we like, so there is no big deal. If you are a SC2 or Dota2 or X game fan, you know who to follow or what player stream watch. We'll have to worry if Twitch starts to shutting down streams from other teams or charging them for X reasons, but hey, if that happens well just have to go and search for another streaming media, that's what we always do, apart from theory-crafting stuff, we love to do that... GLHF !!
*sorry for bad English not my native language, ^_^

That is exactly my thinking. There is plenty they could do that simply would not be that big of a deal but is the idea of those "other" unknown changes that I am intensely curious about. I'm interested in seeing how or what comes about as a result of this.
Your English is swell, no worries and your input is appreciated.
