I tried this many, many years ago and the controls and lack of character responsiveness made it maple story 0.2, not 2.0. MS is far better. La Tale is awful.
I have been playing on Europe MS a little. While Zero is a very fun class to play as, the lategame leveling options are quite lacking. It's interesting how difficult it seems to be for me to just level when at lvl 181 I still get significantly more experience than I used to get on a lvl 30 character way back in the day. I guess it was a bit more relaxing back then and the wild boars for example usually had around 3 other players farming the map making it a lot more lively...

I've been playing a lot of mapleroyals this summer~ private server v62, so basically it's my 6th grade all over again with a slightly higher exp rate (x4 exp, x4 meso, x2 drops) there's an active community and I'd love if someone would play with me
