Starcraft:Broodwar
Good ol' days
How many years has it been since I last logging into TL just for the fun of it?
I guess it's been almost two years...
Checking how my favorite players are doing in the SC2 pro scene after a very long journey...
The Starcraft:BW curtains come down leaving the viewers with a bitter and sad feeling.
Nostalgia?
I think so.
We true fans are loyal to the kin.
Hard to die.
Good and bad memories fill my mind.
Boxer, Savior, Nada, Effort, JangBi, Bisu, Stork, Baby, Fantasy, Flash and Jaedong
One of the many names that echoes in my mind.
Many touched the sky, now their legacy is forgotten.
Their time is over. Times were we stayed up 'til morning to see them play.
SKT T1 vs KT clasicos or maybe a Jaedong vs Flash.
Long rivalries never fade away, but today is not the same.
Moments of anxiety, screams of joy, rage, incredible comebacks, upsets. and of course... despicable fanboyism...
It's over. The hype is gone. The tension is gone.
And so are the hype threads and the power rankings.
Today the Gods we so admire are mortals. And we rage, and we cry.
Why? Because we are loyal to the kin.
Who can forget Violet whose soul now rests in heaven?
Who didn't rage when Savior fixed matches?
Who didn't participate in the Nada's Body thread.
Or watched the Old Boy series?
Scream of joy when your favorite team or player raised the trophy?
And trash talk the rival's fanbase?
Or stand speechless after an upset or an incredible play?
And of course laugh at the firebathero after game celebrations?
It was fun.
Very fun.
But nothing last forever.
So SC:BW
GG no re.

SKT vs KT live report threads were the best, lots of fun bashing and face punches all over

The flash memes were the thing :c

It's got a cool rhythm to it...but it's entire premise is false.
BW, korean BW anyway, is doing most excellent. Hard to say there is no hype or people staying awake when the SSL finals got well over 70 pages in the LR thread.
Not to mention there still is power rank.

As L_Master mentioned, while BW is not as out there as it used to be, the scene is starting to pick up where the OSL left off and more progamers are coming back. Recent SSL9 was a pretty big success and the LR thread and hype was through the room. Helps that the games lived up to expectations(or more) as well

you realize BW isnt dead yet do you?

GG no re. True fans wouldn't have left the scene once OSL finished. If they loved the game, they would've stuck around and tried to help re-build the scene. It's true that BW will never get to the same level as before but that's what being a fan is about. If you only stuck to BW due to its popularity and such, that's just being a fan of the popularity and not of the game. Sonic is what I would term a true fan. You don't have to invest money like he did to help out though, just being there in BW's time of need, aka when last OSL finished would've made you a true fan in my eyes.
I'm sure someone will argue that if someone follows BW since its inception and then left once OSL finished is a true fan since he followed it for all those years and I don't doubt they are a fan but if you quit when the going gets tough, then are you really a true fan? think about it.
+ Show Spoiler +playing devil's advocate. I mean, why not? lol.

It's died down, but not dead.
