"Ideas born in a vacuum die a silent death"
In an effort to continue to grow personally, I have decided to go out on a limb and share my tournament and content ideas on my TL blog before investing a ton of time in trying to make it happen. The goal is to hopefully get feedback sooner and better adapt the concepts before even launching the "product". I took this concept from the Lean Start up
Its against my nature to share my ideas, especially with the internet being the place negativity but I figure if I will be better served personally and professionally in the long run if I put both my ideas for the community to critique.
So lets get started

Kings Of The North: 1.0
logo concept
Premises:
North American Show Match Series to display the top talent of Canada
Organizer's Notes
+ Show Spoiler +
Though I don't speak French I do watch alot of Pomf & Thud their events are to me very inspirational , Iron Squid being my favourite. The Kings Of the North was my rendition of their Under Dogs tournament but focused on Canada. There are some great talents in the country that I really believe can be unearthed given a good spotlight format. I have included my thoughts in the form of commentary to majority of the line items.
Format:
8 Players Invited
Bracket Group Stages [Best of 3 / Finals Best of 1]
Finals Bracket [ Best of 3 ]
+ Show Spoiler +
The group stage would be in a single elimination bracket style, and the finals of that bracket would just be used to seed players into the finals. keeping it short and simple helps keep the schedule under 3 weeks which would avoid dragging out the event
Schedule
Week 1 - group A
Week 2 - group B
Week 3 - Finals bracket
+ Show Spoiler +
with so much events happening I figured keeping a shorter timeline to avoid clashing with WCS and other events as much possible. A day of the week such as fridays or monday where its less likely to conflict is ideal but could affect viewership / player schedules.
Prize pool : $300
1st - 225
2nd- 75
Proposed possibles for Invites for Season 1
Huk
Scarlett
Desrow
Kane
Masa
Hendralisk
Jig
Believe
Amnesia
+ Show Spoiler +
Since we started running the TorCraft Cup tournament, new and interesting Grand Masters have started to appear. This is a great source to decide where to invite new talent.
all the players on the list I have a relationship with save for scarlett, though she is already departing for Korea and may not be able to attend.
The scenario to avoid is where it is simply a Masa vs Hendralisk finals for the 1st and every season going forward.
Caster Talent:
Master Dalk
FourCourtJester
Broadcast Location
C&G Magazine Studio
+ Show Spoiler +
I had debated caster format , having casters being remote or whether to have them in our studio (in our shared studio space). Doing it remotely will save on travel for casters but their quality of equipment don't match.
One member of team brought up the point that with all things equal (internet, equipment, etc) , synergies of the casters can translate better when they are both in the same room, it also gives a higher production value when casters are in the same room vs remote.
So in the end I went with them in studio

In the end I am not 100% whether or not this is the best format to present my ideas on tournaments I want to create but the best thing I can do instead of speculating is take a step out and see what happens.
