When I tried to view the thread I made about china internet censorship wiki articles my internet got disconnected for 2 minutes. Some words or link or something must've triggered something else, security system, etc. I saw the same page I see when I try to sort by "date added" on youtube, or click on page 2 on youtube, or search falun on google. I stumbled upon this nice cnn summary on how chinese internet censorship works, http://www.cnn.com/interactive/world/0603/explainer.china.internet/frameset.exclude.html
which is strangely not blocked, because it's CNN I guess. I think actually I might not even be able to view this post because I used the word falun. Orwellian, Big Brother, Panopticon, however you wanna describe it, whatever connections you can make, this web, this undetectable power the goverment holds over its citizens is intimate and everywhere.
edit: just noticed one of the keywords filtered is "freedom" rofl rofl rofl rofl, when i search freedom on google the site gets disconnected.

the list of keywords that blocks content is ominous, except for one entry, which is fairly amusing: # Revolution # Equality # Freedom # Justice # Taiwan # Tibet # Falun Gong # Dissident # Democracy # STD # Human rights

China is not the only nation into this. There are some nations that screen most communication for keywords, or watch specific persons and organizations i.e they don't actively censor but they still watch and use the information in other manners. Nothing online is truly private, for anyone.

As entropy said it. Almost every nation in the world monitors the internet activity, they can get even your ims.

thanks for the pms, I asked ETT to send the articles to my school e-mail address and I read them with no problem
