when your download speed is around 15000 kb/s, this means your actual transfer rate speed is only around 1800 kb/s.

Correct, divide the kbits by 8 to get your actual transfer rate in kBytes

In Melbourne, Australia Overall I'm quite happy with my connection. Only paying 60 AUS dollars / Month From memory, Most downloads from US sites are no slower than 500kb/sec. Even faster from established european sites and something around 700kb from taiwan, japan and korean sites. downloading from local sites are 1.6 meg per sec constant. very crappy download from Mainland China (no surprise) and Russia.

Don't bitch about internet in USA. We've got an internet monopoly in SA, and it doesn't get much worse than that. EDIT: That download speed that everyone is getting should be the actual download speed as far as I know. Kb/s = Kilobyte per second, while kbps = Kilobit per second. I might be wrong though.

Furthermore, I then pay 40$ p/m to my ISP for a 3gb cap, which means I can download a full 3gb's before my internet is cut off completely. Don't bitch about internet in USA.
