The goals are mostly arbitrary. I chose it as the goal because BlueIris used it in the exercise he described, and I have thought for the longest time that 100 apm was a struggle to reach, 200 apm was physically impossible for me, and 300+ was beyond any wild dream. I let 300 remain the goal in the hopes that if I get used to moving that fast, even pointlessly, I'll be able to move that fast when a situation demands it. That's the best outcome I'm aiming to get out of this exercise. Plus, I wanna see if it's physically possible for me to accomplish 300 apm over the course of a game. If the goal turns out to be unattainable, I'll be a little disappointed but at least I could say I tested my limits. If I meet the 300 apm goal, I might up it to 400 apm in a few weeks. Not for any practical purpose... just to see if I can do it.
As for pro-zergs. Savior's apm is about 250. Julyzerg is 300-350. Nal_keke is 250-300. I don't have all the pro-zerg's apm's memorized, but when people refer to Savior's apm, they often call it "relatively low", so I'm guessing 250 is considered to be on the low-end of what a progamer needs to compete. Of course I'm not trying to become a progamer. I just wanna control my army and accomplish the strategies and micro/macro I set out to accomplish.
Today's progress:
Goals = 300 apm, less than 600 resources.
Comp Spam Practice Game16: 206 APM; 227 unspent resources; 16:26 time. Game17: 203 APM; 244 unspent resources; 19:43 time. Game18: 247 APM; 943 unspent resources; 12:49 time. Game19: 166 APM; 658 unspent resources; 11:11 time. Game20: 236 APM; 773 unspent resources; 12:59 time.
Game16-20 Averages 212 APM; 569 unspent resources; 14:38 time.

Good work, keep it up! I'm an 80-90 apm Zerg like you were too, and it's inspiring to see such dramatic improvement in your apm and play.

Looks like your macro exercises have been improving

I have a question I tried that apm method myself jsut for fun lol and vs player i am usually a 200-220ish Terran user.
I spammed hotkeys and have gotten the results of 329 [11:25] and 280 apm [22:18] however, on the 2nd game where i got 280 apm
i maxed out and had 4-5 bases and couldn't keep up with the conditions present. my questions are
1) what do u do with the excessive money? because i maxed out earlier on i couldn't make anything except factories, mass turrets, mass command centers? 2) i noticed my left hand gets significantly tired after the 1st game how do u play 5 games and keep your speed so consistently?
btw: this method of training i noticed for myself is actually beneficial not towards my strategic thinking/decision making skills but physical finger movements and mechanics (my fingers get so tired from spamming) and hopefully if i keep practicing i hope to gain endurance

I'm waiting to see if after you do this for a little while longer if your play is suddenly going to sky rocket vs humans.

Hey Worst, Your faster than me already wow really amazing your results, i actually am doing the same thing whenever my internet craps up like always. (Especially that recent day). I've been doing pure zvts, basically doing 2 hatch/3 hatch muta vs 3 terrans on LT, with black sheep wall, basically i'll only be doing expos and mutas. Doing it to practice my muta vs rine micro. You should try it out sometime, its actually quite challenging to win with pure mutas. July, sometimes reaches 400 apm-ish in his intense muta micro games btw.
Thats a really encouraging story to all us low apm users. How are you with pub games, winning more? and are you winning against higher apm people? which is an important question.
Oh and are you shaking still? Cause thats the exact thing that happened to me while i was raising my apm in training.

1) I build up a bunch of resources. Heh. I try to put down hatcheries and tech all the stuff I don't normally tech, like queen energy, etc, but mostly it just accumulates after I hit 200/200. Which is one of the reasons my games have been shorter lately (I've been attacking earlier so I don't hit 200/200).
2) I'm not as fast as you, so I haven't really been getting tired. All the same, I do carpal tunnel prevention exercises between each game. Repetitive Stress Injury Prevention.

I don't think I'm faster than you yet, slained. Maybe the same speed, if my pub game apms are a good measure. I don't think the spam practice apms are worth quoting as "my apm" since it's mostly spam.
Besides the two games I reported here, I haven't been playing online. The people I beat were of the type I expected to beat despite my slow hands when I had 70 apm: supercrap (40 apm) and semi-crap (110 apm); but I played better than I would've without this practice (the 110 apm guy dropped my main with 4 DT and I reacted so well I didn't lose a single thing-- usually that sorta thing end the game for me).
I'm shaking less, but there's still some slight tremors. It comes and goes. When I played you I was shaking so bad that I couldn't set hotkeys (stretches like ctrl-1,2,3 had me slipping all over the place), which was pretty bad. I'm trying to remember to breath, drink water, and do RSI prevention to help. The shaking may be a result of my anxiety problems, though, and not connected to this APM training. I dunno.

It generally happened to me mostly when i spammed alot and was forced to do many other actions cause of my opponents. I think the combined stress does it. See if it happens to you when all you do is breeze through the game with not many battles everywhere.
Or maybe its because i seem so intimidating lol
but anyways just keep focused dont forget to move back and forth from looking at your minimap. I think its obvious that by using the minimap often, you react to everything faster. Remember to use both hands equally, or else what you are doing is just pure spam. Are you still using both hands on the keyboard? You really have to break out of that habit if you do.
GooD LucK
btw Im online today
