Well only thing I like about OSL over GSL is that they play just one match per day. They get to prepare better. If they just mixed GSL format and played it out over five days you would have the hype last day which would be garanteed to determine last 4 players. Now it's a bit of an anticlimax ending.

predictions: soO Innovation Rain Maru
Does map score come into play when a draw occurs or does it just get send to the tiebreaker immediately?

Symbol > soO because if anyone remembers last season's Ro16, Symbol crushed soO's 10pool Baneling attack and then crushed soO with 10pool Baneling if that's any indication of who the better player is... Bomber > INnoVation because he'll do some more sick strats like the ones he did against Flash. Also Bomber has a 81% win rate in TvT in HotS. Rain > FanTaSy because 3-way ties are fun. Maru > KangHo because 55% TvZ > 45% ZvT.

So what happens in Group C if Rain wins? I'm guessing it goes to tiebreakers, since he's going to have the worst map-score even if he 2-0's Fantasy, but Liquipedia shows him as still in the running, but how do tiebreakers work?

Only series wins matter, not mapscore.
If Rain wins its a 3-way tie at 2-1 (First, Hyvaa, Rain) and they will play bo1 tiebreakers until two players come out victorious. (First player to win 2 games in a set of tiebreakers goes on as first place, the player going 1-1 advances as second)
Examples: (no immediate winner) Rain > First Hyvaa > Rain First > Hyvaa = all 3 tied, next set of tiebreakers
(immediate winner) Rain > First Rain > Hyvaa = Rain advances as first Hyvaa > First = Hyvaa advances as second
Of course this is all pointless if Fantasy lives up to his teamkilling legacy

OSL should make teammates in groups play each other *first* to lessen the chances that something appears to be off. That's how GOM does it for up/down groups.

Your naive to think that Fantasy will try and beat Rain. It makes 0 sense for him to actually win the matches. He can very easily 'make mistakes' like supply blocks, messing up proxy rax position, etc. in order to help Rain advance. It's honestly OGNs fault for putting them in this position.
|
Incredibly stupid of OGN to have Fantasy play Rain this late in the round-robin format.
