You can cast abilities using the minimap. For example, I select all my queen, press V and then click roughly on the locations of my hatcheries on the minimap.
does this mean you can ctrl group your queens and then v somewhere on the mini map and expect them to inject their respective hatcheries?

What's this²shift command trick to kill a building and pick up the units and leave while looking away?

You can't just click anywhere on the minimap, you do have to aim somewhat. I don't remember if you need to hit the hatchery exactly or only roughly. Anyway, the nearest queen with energy goes there and injects. You can give the command for each hatchery and smartcast will do the rest, resulting in each hatchery being injected by its nearest queen as long as they all have energy. It's a bit hard to explain, just try it sometime: select all queens and v+click on each hatchery on the minimap. The advantage of this method is that you don't need to move your screen, and it's quite fast. The disadvantage is that you need to aim accurately with your mouse, and you may mess things up without noticing if you misclick or a queen is out of energy.

Whoa I clicked on this thread and thought I'd be wasting my time after reading the first... Ended up learning a few useful things, big thanks.

And if youre being attacked, dont cancel any upgrades because if the building dies you get 100% refund back. Same for raxes queues, if your raxes get killed when 5 marines are in it, full refund for everything. So if there is a chance your evo gets saved, your upgrade will finish a tiny bit faster =D what do u mean "So if there is a chance your evo gets saved, your upgrade will finish a tiny bit faster"?

When you have your group of gateways, you can press tab and it will select all the closed one, then you press GGGGGG to open them all. Instead of going 4-click-G, 4-click-G... or 4-shift click-click-click-click-click-GGGGG.

Let's say you have a medivac unloading a bunch of marines in your opponent's base, and you want to snipe a Templar Archives, then immediately pick up and get out. With the marines out of the medivac, and the marines and medivac selected, issue the command to attack the building, then while holding shift, right click the medivac and, while still holding shift, make another right click for the medivac's flight outta there.

He worded it poorly. Basically, the point is don't cancel any upgrades simply because you are concerned the building will be killed because if it is, you will get 100% refund on the upgrade. An erroneous cancel will require you to restart the upgrade, whereas not canceling will allow the upgrade to finish on time, assuming the building isn't killed. Thus, it's obviously quicker than having to restart the upgrade. It's just not worded well.

This is called the "Minimap Inject Method". When the spawn larva spell is active, if you mouseover the minimap, hatcheries eligible for injecting will cause the mouse cursor to turn into a green cross-hair. That is a valid location for inject. You can't be "close", you have to cast the spell "on" the hatch, but the mouse cursor changes when you're over a hatch, so it's visually responsive.

God, remember when Blizzard was considering making such that Zerg couldn't hold down a certain hotkey to make a bunch of whatever that unit was? Holy damn, that would've been fucking tragic (was that implemented? I feel like it definitely got beta-tested at least).

CTRL select (e.g.) all your workers, then quickly and repeatedly press F1, right click, F1, right click... and so on. Each F1 selects a different worker from that group so you can spread them pretty fast.

Also press D and left click your Medivac, Overlord, Warp Prism while on the move it will drop the units inside along the flight path.

So you have to micro that yourself? There's no shift command for that?
Btw this is an amazing thread. I've played WoL since its inauguration and been playing HotS as well. Had NO idea to never cancel an upgrade or q'd up units. Thank you!
One tip I thought I should share I think is a no brainer, but do not forget that there's a secondary hot key option for a lot of hot keys! Like the default for an immortal is "I" and I've added the secondary hotkey as "E".
The most helpful one I personally use is adjusting the default ctrl+shift+f1 for saved camera spots for your bases, I've changed mine to just shift+f1. In my opinion, less awkward finger movement and quicker too! That's just my personal opinion though!
