They just patched it so that you just move to the depot/rock if you right-click on it, but before it would issue an attack command. So if you had to run up your ramp you might stop your entire army to attack a depot while your natural is being overwhelmed by enemies. Now I guess people do it because force of habit or because they might issue A-commands onto the depot accidentally. | ||

Because before the "right clic patch", it was pretty common even at the highest level to waste banelings on it, while right clicking very close to the neutral depot. Out of habit people destroy it nowadays. It also permits to put an evolution chamber and make a wall. | ||
