Thanks TL.net for being a great place to lurk these past 10 years.
Thank you to Korea and to the Korean people for having the precise combination of cultural factors to allow professional Brood War to take root and thrive. When I was in high school, Korean progamers were the heroes I couldn't find anywhere else in my life. Also, thank you for having a market for English teachers. Also, thank you for still having true OSLs by the time I finished university and could get here to watch them live. I'll never forget it. Thank you for hosting me for the last year and a half.
Thank you to Boxer for playing that insane TvT on LT and locking down those BCs. I still remember showing my best friend that replay and nerding out over something none of our other friends seemed to understand. Lifelong friendship solidified.
Thanks to Blizzard for creating Brood War. Thank you also for reminding me that great things, as time goes by and they get larger and require greater resources to maintain, tend to lose the things that made them great in the first place. Maybe the new things are great, but that doesn't change the fact that some things are left behind. I am serious about being thankful--watching Blizzard as a company has been a great external reminder to keep the things I love small and manageable. Also, it reminds me that the responsibility of safekeeping the things we love falls on the people who love them, not on their creators.
With that in mind, a special thanks to community programmers. With Lan latency, WGTour, PGTour, ICCUP, BWchart, this game was able to thrive. Special thanks to MasterOfChaos--without his contributions I really do not believe the game could have had the success it did.
Thank you to samjjang for giving me my only game vs a progamer. I'll never forget the combination of nerves and excitement I felt.
Thank you to all the randoms that have always beat me down in D+ ICCUP and, after many, many years, have finally succeeded in making me humble.
Thank you to island maps in WCG. Also, thank you for FroZ vs Boxer.
Thank you to the entire Brood War community. From SClegacy [XG3, Enforcerman, mods/admins from back in the day, Redcloak comes to mind] to Battlereports/~nohunters, to the old ladders like Rose, clan x17, Gosugamers, WCG [the only offline tournament I ever participated in], and many more channels/websites.
Thank you for Joses vs Boxer.
Thank you to Ret, Mondragon, FroZ, NonY, Blackman, and NonY for being my foreign Brood War heroes. You guys were the only foreigners whose play I could watch and always be impressed with. Ret's mechanics were the only ones ever comparable to Koreans. FroZ, Mondragon, and NonY are amazing for the same reason--they always seemed to know how to dominate their opponents even if they couldn't always do it mechanically. Their game sense would consistently blow my mind.
Thank you to Tsunami for the sweet zerg guides.
Thank you to Savior for reminding me that evil will work its way into everything humans touch, no matter how pure you want to believe it to be. I forgive you.
Thank you for TSL1 and 2--the best foreign Brood War I've ever seen. Also, thanks TL.net for the new TLS.
Thanks to JangBi for the sweet OSL finals and for looking me in the eyes when I was so drunk happy for you and saying thank you after I congratulated you on stage in 2011.
Thank you for Nada's body.
Thank you to Tasteless and panda bear guy. Ok, and to Artosis. You three are really cute together.
Thank you to Testie for all the excellent drama in your Brood War times and for playing HoN [your FanOfMondi handle is my favorite], my favorite MOBA.
Thanks to clan .nS) for being themselves and letting me be, by far, the worst skilled on the team.
Thank you most of all to BSB, the best community I've ever been a part of. Also, they are loyal friends.
