Ah yes something I studied for, for about a week straight. I studied for my first certificate which was Ethical Hacking and Countermeasures (CEHv7) exam. 150 questions 4 hours to do it and I had a week to study.
My teacher is awesome and made sure we were prepared gave us a week to study and then we took the test in the class room. Since he is certified and all that he was qualified to let us take it in his class room. So we didn't have to go to a testing center or anything. It costed 300$ to take this exam.
So that's a lot of money (well for most people). I was nervous as hell for this test. He gave us the practice test questions which was 505 questions of which 150 would be on. I did that so many times I have never studied so hard for something in my life. I actually almost never study for tests so I was happy to note that I was able to get myself to study hard for this.
The day of the exam came, nervous and just want to get this test going. Finished it in 25-30 minutes, got an 89% got my certificate fist pumped left the building, went home with a huge smile on my face and played sc2.
Yeah that's what I did :D. I am taking 5 certification tests and I have passed 1, the other 4 I can only remember security + and the CFI exam I think it is? There are 2 others but yeah so happy I was able to pass the first one.

It's quite hard to memorize 505 questions in one week, especially if it's harder than a multiple-choice questionnaire.

I'm wanting to get into the penetration testing world and I've heard CEH was a bit of a gimmick when compared to certs offered by SANS (and other big names). Either way, more certs the better. Did you pay for all the content as well? Coz doesn't it run into over 2k? I'd love to do it just for the cert, atm I'm doing CCNA though, gonna hopefully pass that and go for CCNP right after :D

Are you taking classes in a university or is this some independent class that prepares you for these exams?

Congrats! Slayed it man. 4 hour test done in 30 minutes with an 89%? You definitely deserve the certificate.

For the most part. There were questions that weren't on there. The security + certificate that I start studying in a month will have 909 questions that I have to study like hell xD.

Well all my certificates are actually cheaper then if I were to not be in school. We get a discount on all the certs we are taking by a few hundred dollars so in total it's going to cost me 500-600$ for 5 certs. I believe if I wasn't in school it would cost me about 2k.

I go to a community college that ironically has a better IT program then any other colleges where I live. My teacher has so many certifications and like really knows his shit which is awesome :D
