I just had a huge nerd moment. Probably the biggest one in my life so far. With it came the realization that I am actually a nerd.
I was playing StarCraft: Brood War vs a practice partner of mine, and I had to pause the game because it was lagging. I needed turn off my torrent program, because it was downloading and uploading Star Trek and programming books.
I'm playing StarCraft: Brood War, an extremely hard strategy game, from 1998, with huge pixels and dated graphics.. I have a practice partner in it. I'm torrenting Star Trek AND programming books simultaneously. While I'm playing StarCraft. That is stacked nerd hamburger, if I've ever seen one.
Have you ever had any nerd moments? A revelation that you're actually a nerd, like the one I had? Alone, or with other people?

It was in a thread a couple of days ago. Lots of video games decrease your social skills. I thought to myself dam. It didn't help that i was called a nerd like 6 times in two days the same day.
EDIT: My plans for the day involve spending my 60 bonus pool before season locks.

This isn't exactly a "nerd moment", but more of a realization moment. I was once having a conversation with my friend in college about what his favourite element from the periodic table of elements was, and it struck me that I was such a hardcore and proud nerd. Those moments make me so happy though, because they define who I am and what I've been through to get to this point.

My nerd moment came in 8th grade. A new student was sitting at his desk before school started (for some reason all our buses managed to arrive at school around a half hour before school started) wasting time by sorting his Magic: The Gathering deck. I pull up a chair, and get out my rainbow sliver deck (cause you know playing all 5 colors made you cool right?). And we played. I ended up winning cause you know slivers are op as fuck.

I know some of those Magic words thanks to Day9!
My nerd moment would probably be actually playing in a tournament for a videogame and then winning a keyboard for it. People see the keyboard and ask "So white and fancy, why did you get it?" "I won it playing a videogame"

My life is a nerd moment. Let's look over a few of them:
"Ooh, let's learn chess!" (Age 6) "Chess club? I'm in!" (Age 8) "Wait, we're making a chess team? Oh, shit yes." (Age 15) "I spend more time on my computer than I do at school." (Age 15) "I won a Magic T-shirt playing Magic at a Magic tournament. And I play Magic." (Age 15) "I've introduced Magic to my school, using product I received as a birthday present." (Age 16) "I'm actually travelling 300 kilometres to play Magic, with my team, which I organised online." (Age 18) "THAT WEEKEND PLAYING MAGIC WAS AWESOME!" (Age 18) "I'm studying computers at TAFE. I spend my school hours fixing computers and my leisure hours playing computers." (Age 18) "StarCraft 2? Ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod!" (Age 18) "I should start playing Chess again." (Age 19) "I'm actually almost in tears about having to quit Magic." (Age 19) "I just went ballistic over a game of Starcraft 2. And I wasn't even playing." (Age 19) "Wow, I'm actually playing D&D. I've wanted this for years!" (Age 19) "Hey sis, guess what, I've achieved a new pinnacle of nerddom, yet again." (Age 19) "I just spent the afternoon watching Brood War and drinking with my equally nerdy best friend." (Age 20) "I should start playing Chess again." (Two weeks ago) "I just went ballistic over MVP vs. Life." (Last week) "I entered a Crawl tournament." (Last week) "I'm downloading a Chess book off the internet." (Yesterday) "I bet I could name at least twenty nerd moments." (Five minutes ago)

I once realized that memorizing decimals of pi can be quite fun.
EDIT: Another one; getting an adrenaline rush by writing the alphabet as fast as I can on a new keyboard.

My favorite card is Last Stand just because of this lol
EDIT: And that makes nerdy realization #29848 or so for me... >.>

Nerdmoment
The rage i feel when people play sliver decks. Also real men play rainbow decks, or single. You should either be a purist or not discriminate at all.

I played CoD:MW3 on my XBOX 360. OMG, I'm such a nerd :3

Back in 2008 or '09 i don't remember exactly, i was playing at a pretty high level (80th rank worldwide) Unreal Tournament 3. So we are like a group of 3 friends playing in a team of 8. We were playing Granado Espada: Sword of the new world, a korean MMORPG in the absolute best guild in the world at the moment, i dare to say that because even tho the American servers were quite a lot behind the Korean servers, we managed to get kills on bosses that weren't supposed to be done with our level cap and we killed 2 server bosses at the same time (it was supposed to be only one but the map glitched and two were spawned) with our guild only. So back to the topic, we are playing UT3 at a pretty high level but we were pretty much "too good" for the ladder so we would rather wait for other teams who owned a private server to come online to practice with or just waiting to be in the same team cuz the team system was so shitty in UT3 sometimes you couldn't even end up in the same team for 2 or 3 maps in war mode (which can be a very long time if the team are balanced skillwise and the map is huge).
So we would play SONW while waiting and SONW had this autoXP bot which allow you to XP your 3 characters without actually playing (which is an absolute necessity because the game take so long to get at a level where you can do raids and all, there is basically 400 levels). Our computers were on 24/7/365 for at least a year and SONW AND UT3 always running, we were switching between the two whenever something was doable on one or another (Bosses/raids/guild events or practice team, stuff...whatever).
At the end of the year, i dropped both games because of school and other stuffs. Then i received the electricity bill... 600€. At this moment, i said: "fuck yeah! Me!"

Had a girl over at my place, forgot to put away the box of Twilight Imperium.
"What's that?"
"A boardgame."
"Like monopoly?"
Should have just told her yes, just like monopoly.

Sometimes I'll be talking to one of my friends outside while waiting at a crosswalk. We'll be talking about Ico or something, and all of a sudden I'll realize that a lot of people are giving us looks. Then I realize what we were talking about so excitedly and loudly.
"I hate it when those ghost things come out and attack the girl you're protecting. All I want to do is to solve the puzzle, but the ghost things get in the way. I hate protecting people, it's so damn annoying."
That's when I realize I'm a nerd.

As I read A Song of Ice and Fire, I keep going back to the map in the first few pages to just find the locations and gaze at them in slight awe. I'm also generally a literature 'nerd', if one might call it that, and, as described by AimHere, a self-loathing Orwellian.

omg. that game hahaha. ): I'm surprised people played it. It seemed so obscure!
Anyways, here's my nerd moments:
1) ragnarok online (iRO Chaos) 18 hour mountain dew fueled grind sessions. was in one of the top guilds on the server (I think some of them competed in the RO world championship thing. I couldn't since I was too young)
2) took 3 days off work in preparation for the release of diablo 3 (think I got to hell mode by the time i had to go back to work -- I think I hit 52 by the time I had to go back to work).
3) spent all my hours in college playing facebook games (haha), but luckily got a job at a social games company because I played so many fb games.
4) super academia nerd: graduated college at age 19, magna cum laude D: (AP classes + 24 unit semesters (on campus) + additional GE credits all done at community colleges) that being said, I also didn't attend a very prestigious college; my intent was to graduate ASAP and go immediately to grad school, but I ended up getting a job instead. yay
5) game collector's edition consumer whore. T_T I have to get collector's edition or I am sad. My apartment has a lot of random figurines from CE games.
