The constant use of "mature" language from Mr. Bonell on his own broadcast or guest appearances on other streams was not making this look to be a an enjoyable viewing experience.

Those are streams this is a legit event I am sure he would be professional and respectful if they asked him to.

Destiny has casted some smaller events in the past with great success and always good feedback from viewers. Very professional casting, and also awesome humour and casts well with just about any other type of caster. You're correct that calling gigabyte's decision immature was flawed. I would call it misinformed without hesitation though.

A few loud complainers don't represent the whole community's opinion on this. The fact that Destiny has made controversial statements on his own personal stream should have no bearing on the expectation that he can deliver an exceptional cast with professionalism and respectful language. You can argue that it comes down to not wanting someone of his 'reputation' associated with you, but frankly, he represents thousands upon thousands of nerds out there who aren't on the PC bandwagon and actually appreciate humor at the expense of others without taking it too seriously. Using words that have race hate undertones does not a racist make.

I agree with you that his personal stream certainly has influence over whether or not he's hired, but I do think in this community this is a slippery slope to go down. Not to mention this is a situation where Destiny was REMOVED, after agreeing to stop using racial slurs. It isn't like he wasn't hired in the first place. You couldn't find a post inside of 3 years where I use that word and you could NEVER find a sound bite for any tourney or stream I have done where i use that word. Stop throwing names around that you actually have no idea about. Luckily for you you are some random person with no stake in this game otherwise you'd have just fucked up big time but whatever.

If you really want to reduce pitchfork wielding in the community you can do so by simply watching and enjoying the tournament, emailing sponsors saying it was fantastic entertainment and not over reacting about anything in the future - INCLUDING Destiny being removed. More "Boycotts" is exactly what the community doesn't need. No, you shouldn't praise a poor decision. The way to show that it was a poor decision is just to watch something else, and that is what I plan on doing. The irony is that a select group of people are persecuting Destiny, while simultaneously draping it under the guise of preventing persecution(of a race/sexual preference.)

Shit you say or do have consequences, especially as a public figure. You have every right to your beliefs but sometimes you are better off keeping them to yourself. it goes both ways, man. the people that make up /r/starcraft, for example, can and do outright slander people in the community with zero consequence if they're wrong, even if they set off a giant shitstorm that damages the reputation of someone for no reason. (not saying this happened with destiny). it's important to understand the perspective of people with name recognition in the community that part of the reason that shit like this gets blown to the rafters is because a fringe group of people can cause a shitstorm over anything and if they're wrong, nobody remembers not to take them seriously anymore. EDIT: perfect example: incontrol's post earlier on the page. if that's posted on reddit, two hundred people upvote it, all of a sudden people think incontrol is calling people faggots left and right when it's simply not true. and there aren't any repercussions for the people who spew uninformed shit like that unless you're on TL

Steven may do what he pleases on his stream, but do you really think he'd throw that shit around in an official tournament? He can be an extremely professional and well-spoken guy when he turns it on, which he has done plenty in the past to prove he's capable. I don't want to take this thread away from the tournament it's representing because I'm sure it'll be great, but it's ridiculous that they made such a ham-handed decision.
