A number of good ideas, I think On The Bench needs to be implemented somehow. I think that the On The Bench concept would, as mentioned above, help foster community involvement and actual practice and learning in the lower (bronze) leagues (it certainly helped me).
I also don't know how much interest there is in this, but I think that if enough players get in to create multiple leagues that we should have "Daily Leagues" like "Friday Night Fights" and "Silver Saturdays" or some such. Of course, that would require seven(!) leagues of players who are naturally going to move up the ladder, so turnover and managing all that would be, well, interesting. As Robo-boogey pointed out, that would simplify scheduling a LOT, but would need either a make-up match clause or stand-in (first choice, second choice, third choice) clause in case Real Life (TM) got in the way of one of the seeds for that day.
As the Chinese curse goes: "May you live in interesting times . . ."
Assuming my life doesn't explode in my face anytime soon, I wouldn't mind helping out, Admins.

i love the idea of a 'league night' kinda like a bowling night. but the issue is that for some people, with full time jobs, classes, or a family (in my case all three) it might be difficult to get league nights moving with the relatively small number of players we currently have. We would likely have to reorder teams as to what days a player can play, and thats another enitre annoying spreadsheet for management to deal with. Remember theyre doing this for fun too.
i envision myself sticking around for a few seasons at least, as im just getting serious about competetive play and i know an embarassingly low number of build orders well. including Platinum Leaguers would likely extend the stay of many of our players, and could easily replace a bronze match every other week. 1st week run a bronze match, next week schedule a plat. since those are the two leagues that will the fewest number of players. if needed a bronze game could sub for a plat game in a match set if needed, or vice-versa.
all in all my concern is that people who want to play arent getting a chance to feel the community that i have felt in the short two weeks. As i stated, i just started learning competetive sc2, and before CTL, like everyone (except blizz) knows bnet can be lonely, and CTL has eliminated that in this new player. Now i promised myself i wouldnt cry, but I want to make sure that the community grows as much as it can. =D

Since we're throwing out ideas, here's another possible option for platinum players if there aren't enough to do regular matches or they aren't evenly distributed among teams. We could have a platinum-only individual league in the same format as NASL so that these players at least have a match to play each week (and each one could be BO3). It would be cool if wins here could somehow benefit players' home teams but I don't know if that's realistic.
My only concern with having a platinum match every other week is that some teams may have several platinums by the end of this season. We already have two and our 3rd gold is very close to a promotion as well. With that system each of us would get to play one or two games per entire season. I will admit that it is a good solution for a lot of the other teams with only one platinum though.
Honestly, I'd even be willing to set up an NASL-style plat league if the CTL admins aren't interested in having it be a part of the team league. Could even be gold-platinum if it doesn't interfere with team games.

Platinums - should be accommodated somehow. Perhaps add 1 extra set each match, or replace bronze with plat.
I like this, perhaps change the ace match to platinum instead of getting rid of bronze.

This was exactly what I was thinking, a platinum ace match. The format could be 1 bronze match, 2 silver, 2 gold and the ace for plats.

Just a sidenote, you can't have 6 sets total unless you're okay with the possibility of having ties.

I dunno if the matches are determined ahead of time, but if we are 3-0, we should play the other 3-0 next week bro, whats your rostered name? we're all curious He's Neurosis lol, he said it a couple pages back. he is in the running for MVP of this thread to be sure.

Or you could have.. 1 bronze, 2 silver, 2 gold, 1 ace plat and then 1 Starcraft 2 brood war custom game. Just for the hilarity! Drag your very own Brood War enthusiast into playing SC2!! Or something like that.
It will be like a reverse ProLeague! lol

few things to note this week:
In Kessel vs Galaxy, Milky had an issue this week, Khan subbed in for him in the game against ErrantMind (This guys)
MLG Metalopolis by MLGmaps was no where to be found. there was a '2011 MLG Metalopolis' by someone named Bi Dao, but talking with the captains of both teams we all agreed to play the match on the Dreamhack Metalopolis.
edit: spelling
