Like, there might be different levels of importance of players, and who people are. Like CatZ is a player for coL, and he is a well respected member of the community. He is not really a liability. Orb on the other hand, for such a big corporation like EG, huge liability.

Yes, and in Orb's context it was gross and offensive, a point surely lost on Catz (oh the irony) and you.
destiny calls ppl faggot as a heavy offensive insult all the time. while he was in korea practicing he even tried to think of the most racist thing he could think of to BM the koreans on ladder with and even asked the stream for help. this is all recent and always in front of 5k+ viewers. for orb it was only infront of 200 MAX ppl.
destiny is still in quantic and is still being offensive. orb got fired from EG. oh the irony indeed
And I'm sure everyone that is against orb on this also doesn't support destiny. I for one think destiny should be removed from quantic and be unfeatured on TL and shunned by the community until he learns how to behave like a normal person, but that's going off topic. You're implying that people are for orb getting fired but also support destiny, I highly doubt the same people do both.
dont kid ur self. thats not gonna happne because destiny has to many fans. his offensivness is WHY he is watched and why he is popular just like idra. it just so happened to backfire on orb bigtime, which is where the irony comes from. orb is honestly no diffrent from the rage of idra and destiny. all 3 of them are the same in that regard. the N word is just a magic word for so many ppl.

coL and EG are 2 totally separate organizations with separate known rules, regulations, and views on stuff. If you worked for the NAACP and started calling people "n-----" all the time, they'd be a little pissed. Contrastingly, if you worked for the KKK, they'd be pissed if you didn't.
I don't understand where this sense of entitlement is coming from. We'll never get to a point where everything is fair and even, it's just human nature for that not to be the case. If the number of people that bitched about Orb's actions bitched to the sponsors of Quantic about Destiny, or coL about Catz then there would be repercussions. The players may not stop using the terms or speaking how they do, but I'd be highly surprised if they remained on the team or those teams kept the sponsors receiving the large number of negative feedback.
Right or wrong this is how things work, and it makes sense. If 3000 people bitched about Destiny's Goatee saying they'll no longer purchase Razer gear until he shaved it, either it would get shaved, he would be dropped, or Razer would cease to sponsor Quantic.*
Sponsorship is a business's willingful pledge of money or goods or other services for the positive press gained when a celebrity uses or at the very least claims to use their products. While yes, press is press, poor press in an extremely competitive market is going to have a net negative impact on sales. If a customer tells you they will not purchase something regardless of whether or not the reason makes sense, you have to either trust that they aren't needlessly bitching and do something about it immediately, wait for the quarterly reports to see if maybe that senseless issue affected your sales and then do something drastic, or ignore the problem and hope it goes away. When that one person not liking Destiny's goatee turns into 3000, or 4000, or 10000, then sponsors have a very potentially serious issue on their hands and they need to do something.
We can keep looking at this as an issue of EG or Orb fuckin up, depending on your view of the situation. Or we can understand that our community's actions have a consequence, and we need to start using some actual judgment before picking up the pitchforks.
Is Orb a racist? Probably not, and you know it, asshole that posted the original reddit thread. You could have brought your concerns to EG directly, they could have spoken to Orb on their own, and handled the entire issue in house without incident. Instead, EG is forced to do something drastic, possibly hurt their relationship with their sponsors, and a dude who made an honest (though frankly stupid) mistake is out of a job.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, think before you act. For the love of everything that you hold dear, think.
*I honestly can't find who Quantic's sponsors are, if Razer isn't one, lets pretend they are for the sake of this argument.
if you cant find it ironic then why do u ignore idra? idra is on EG just like orb was.
Because the Starcraft community is full of hypocrites. Plain and simple. They want to have a professional environment and to make E-Sports legitimate yet want to retain "bad mannered" players such as Idra and Destiny (along with various other players that are well known to BM on ladder and get 0 repercussions such as HuK).
It's just funny to watch really. The Starcraft 2 community goes on and on about how the Fighting Game Community is so bad and yet they defend their bad mannered players just as much, while dragging various other people who do the exact same thing through the mud.
Orb only had recent connections to EG. When people started to get outraged it was easy enough for EG to just sever ties with orb and avoid any issues. The big deal isn't what orb said, it was the community reaction and how easy it was to get rid of orb. If EG just picked up a new caster tomorrow, and they said they didn't like tomatoes, and there was a huge community backlash of tomato lovers calling the new caster a tomato racist and a bunch of pitchfork weilding angry posters on reddit, I wouldn't be surprised to see the same thing happen. To me this looks bad on the community because orb really didn't have this coming, it's just when it came out and a nasty situation to be caught in. He said something he shouldn't have, and it got blown way out of proportion. It really is a shame to see somebody go because a bunch of people like to stir shit up and cause drama.

Well, all I can suggest to Orb is just not saying that fucking word. If you're not a homie gangsta and you say it, you're evil, not to mention people are just plain dumb nowadays. You can be racist as fuck in your language and sentiments and it's kinda w/e, but if you use a racial slur in any context (even one that is overused by some people and is common accepted language to them), it seems to be weighed as being far worse. Kinda ridiculous.
But seeing how things are, the best advice by far to Orb is just to not say it. It's just going to cause so much controversy as we've seen. It's just not worth saying it at all, plain and simple.

/sarcasm on CatZ said 'niger' and 'feggot' live on stream. I hope he gets kicked out of coL now. /sarcasm off
Like, there might be different levels of importance of players, and who people are. Like CatZ is a player for coL, and he is a well respected member of the community. He is not really a liability. Orb on the other hand, for such a big corporation like EG, huge liability.
So sponsors like creative don't care but intel does? And what if CatZ switched to EG? Would it be a big deal then? And oh, btw, CatZ was on MLG Winter Arena, even though he makes racist comments? What's that about? MLG is not that big of a corporation I guess. Stop trolling dude.
CatZ: Nigger in front of 3000 viewers -> Nobody cares Orb: Nigger in front of 200 viewers -> Outrage as fuck
This is ridiculous.
Catz shouldnt be allowed to do that either.
Catz's point was that context is what matters, a point obviously lost on the E!Sports drama trols.
I'm not sure how this is ironic.
coL and EG are 2 totally separate organizations with separate known rules, regulations, and views on stuff. If you worked for the NAACP and started calling people "n-----" all the time, they'd be a little pissed. Contrastingly, if you worked for the KKK, they'd be pissed if you didn't.
That's such a dumb comparison, both EG and coL are organizations within the same business unlike your second example.
however EG is a giant organization backed by numerous sponsors that hold tons of contests and spend tons of effort in advertising and pushing there brand fairly aggressivley
complexity is a pretty standard team, they dont have a team house they dont have tons of sponsors and when it comes to pushing there brand there really not
99% of teams are jsut that, teams there groups of people coming together to paly some starcraft
EG is trying to be better then every team out there, there looking at the other teams, and saying "why do we have to be like that? why do we have to be completely reliant on sponsors? why cant we be better then all that?" and so are trying to be as big as possible to become more like the big sport pro teams who are huge so there trying to show themselves as the best the BEST players, the BEST coachs the BEST management and with Orb they were trying to get the BEST casters to EG people knowing who they are is important and Orb is not going to do them any favours, EG can be picky there big enough to do so
yet they have Idra, and they got Huk on the team to fuel idras BM even more. GG
the worst BM youll find from idra in the last several months is him calling people trash
and huk? the dude can be BM but its the msot joking BM ever
besides, there both top tier foreigners that rival the Koreans, for EG there the pieces they absolutely need
and before you compare IdrA to orb for the 10000 time in this thread 1) IdrA never acted out of anger. EVER. hes always remained calm and as such has never gone overboard like callign someone a nigger 2) IdrA isnt a caster, its not his job to have a good eprsonality
thats a joke right? this is what im talking about. defend idra with your heart and soul for his BM but get a great caster fired for one word. i dont care if idra turned into a angel in the last month, it doesnt changed the fact that he has said some of the most offensive things imaginable over the past years. and he ALWAYS acts out of anger.
find me a single time when he has ever dont any BM comparable to Orbs
or how about i make it easy, show me a single time in any interview or vod (where he is actualy talking about the game and not immediately after a loss) where he actually looks angry or sounds angry
are you serious? do i even have to do that? wow ok man... ill do it for u since you are VERY clueless

your reading comprehension needs work, your first vid is right after him losing a game which obviously hed be angry and and your next 2 vids are him speaking in a complete monotone with a bored expression in his face
its a simple fact of the world that when it comes to swear words faggot and nigger are the 2 most offensive becuase they actually refer to a specific minority (homosexuals and blacks) in a offensive way and of the 2 nigger is far far more offensive its just how the world works not all words are created equal

if orb loses on ladder he hits find match again and forgets it but when Idra loses in a tournament it means less money for him (or possibly no money) it means it let his fans down it means he let himself down and he lets his team (and subsequently sponsors) down, Orb losing at a hobby is no big deal IdrA lost at his JOB the amount of investment theyve each put in the game is so different

you must be a troll. i guess idra telling ppl they should kill themselves dont count or its very healthy and non harmful. gtfo dude srsly.

complexity is a pretty standard team, they dont have a team house they dont have tons of sponsors and when it comes to pushing there brand there really not
99% of teams are jsut that, teams there groups of people coming together to paly some starcraft
Edit: I was way, way beaten to this. That's how easy it was.
1) i think you posted the wrong vid since all that shows is him pack up his keyboard 2) once again, it was right after he lsot a game which is only natural to be angry and note noone has yet to post him say nigger so hes still far above Orb
are you stupid? when orb said nigger in that screen it was right after he lost a game. have you even seen the damn screenshots? or are u just joining the bandwagon like everyone else that want to start drama for the sake of drama?
no he said it becuase he was being cannon rushed as he explained numberous times and unlike IdrAs loss, Orbs didnt matter
if orb loses on ladder he hits find match again and forgets it but when Idra loses in a tournament it means less money for him (or possibly no money) it means it let his fans down it means he let himself down and he lets his team (and subsequently sponsors) down, Orb losing at a hobby is no big deal IdrA lost at his JOB the amount of investment theyve each put in the game is so different
oh and while he does show some anger after a game, he deals with it in a healthy non-harmful manner and calms himself down he doesnt start yelling at people around him and insulting them

you must be a troll.
i dont get how thats a troll, i dont remember ever hearing of idra ever at any point in time taking his anger out on someone else
Have you guys considered that perhaps the reason why IdrA streams less, and doesn't commentate during stream anymore, is because EG did have a problem with it, and told him to stop commentating if he couldn't censor himself?

I actually don't know. Just a thought.
i hadnt thought about that its certainly possible, its obvious that he gets a ton more viewers when he commentates so it is pretty odd that hes never done it since
the more i think about it the more likely it seems to me especially since InControl, Machine and Demuslin have been commentating
