Clan Infinity was founded on January 11th, 2011 by a guy named Jay. Jay was kinda dumb, but an overall ambitious and kind guy with good intentions. The clan was actually founded on the day when the chat channels were first introduced. And we started spamming the random blizzard channels for clan members, and we got to around 8 people on our first day
Our first ever activity was on that same night, we played 4v4 where I went absolute ape-shit on everyone. The following day we had an in-house tournament, and if there was any doubt, I have an ego. At that moment I was hot shit in the clan, I was the undisputed best, and then this guy whose name I can't remember for the life of me takes a bo1 off of me in one of our in house tournaments, and I just get pissed. He even beats me to masters making him the best in the clan :'( ego cry. We were rapidly growing, getting a forum up and a teamspeak/ventrilo up and running. And we would soon have our first clan war.
Our first clan war was against a clan who you should know, Relentless Heroes, who was at the time the largest sc2 clan in the west. We sent five of our best players out to compete in the clan war(koth style), and we just get 5-0'd, it wasn't even close. I still remember getting destroyed on Scrap Station very vividly where the zerg was able to get a surround on my marine tank force at the watchtower. I remember how nervous I was, I was no longer playing just for myself, but for other people as well. This memory is very vivid to me and gives me a deep amount of respect for anyone who plays in a team league, competitive or not. Three weeks later, we challenge them, and we destroy them 4-1.
Let's jump forward to early Spring, our clan had recently beat out Relentless Heroes in being the largest sc2 clan in the West(possibly in the world but I can't confirm that), we were running what was called the CiG weekly tournaments (clan infinity gaming) for cash prizes, and we were about to play our first big time match, against vVv on their WNS(wednesday night fights) show. We sent out Umay, Zergling, Rocketeer, and one more that I can't remember. We got crushed hard, wasn't even close. But I got to cheer for players that were in my clan against a very well respected team, I never dreamed we would be able to do this. This feeling cannot be described unless you feel it for yourself, my good friend and teammate Torch even gave a speech before we series began. (nostalgia tears are actually here right now).
Okay, now that we're done being emotional, we can now talk about some of the silliest shit that went down. Infinity Gaming was owned by Jay, and Jay needed money to buy rice, so Jay stole some of the tournament money to buy some. But Riconidoc caught him. And now we're looking at communist Russia in its most ugly form go at it. Jay was denying it, but Riconidoc stated that he had proof. If our website was still up I could show you some of the forum posts. Some of which basically said "If you are found consulting with Jay, you will be REMOVED from the clan". Just crazy shit like that. They eventually came to an agreement and Jay stepped down, leaving Riconidoc head of Infinity Gaming.
Now that the power struggle is over, we thought it was time to flex our competitive muscles, and that was in ESEA. We had one clan war against a team that you may of heard of, Evil Geniuses. Now I suspect this part of the story is when your expecting "holy shit guys I just played Idra!" But in reality, our players didn't show up so we had to forfeit.
Now we fast forward to June, I was in the finals of our CiG cash tournaments verse my best friend Torch. Torch and I would practice TvZ(im terran) so much with each other and we were so close, to find out we had to play a best of 5 in the finals was the hardest task I have ever had to do in Starcraft. Torch knew me inside and out, as I knew him. Now I'm going to try and explain the total mindfucks I had to endure here. He knows I like to open reactor hellion into the Carn build on shakuras plateau(thor hellion), so he opens up with his standard old spanishiwa style. This build looks EXACTLY as he always does it. Except he took a hidden expo which I sent a scout to but misclicked it slightly, so you know what he does? He knows I won't attack before 3 base so he fucking brood lord RUSHES me. He even made like 2 mutas to make me think he was going muta. There was so many more complex mind games than this going on that made me deeply respect anyone going through team kills in games. Believe me when I say there all 100% mindgames, and nothing else. Torch ended up beating me 3-2 in our series, which I felt so bad about, he was my greatest practice partner and my best friend, and I wanted to beat him so badly. Torch eventually had to much in life to keep playing but we would actually just play for three hours straight on metalopolis. I miss you so much Torch come back to sc2 <3.
Now this is a story I will never forget, around 12 of our members including myself went to mlg Providence. I got to meet my best friend torch for the first time as well as many other great friends of mine. And for the first time ever, I got drunk. I never thought that I could ever feel comfortable drinking with other people that I have never met in real life before, but I did. We were playing all these fun drinking games and I even told one of the members, Peanut, that he had a nice butt. But alas, I had to say goodbye to my best friend Torch at that Saturday night because he had to fly back home. Oh and by the way, I am the most friendliest guy in the world when I'm drunk, if your next to me when I'm drunk, my arm WILL be around you. God I miss this memory so much, I even remember vaguely walking back drunk with Harley, another clan member, arms around each other.
Now fast forward to this winter, we had merged with LaGTT, becoming InfLagTT, bringing on new leadership in Azzylum. Our accomplishments under his rule included a showmatch between WhiteRa and Dimaga. But eventually the co-runner of the Infinity side, Riconidoc, had to step down because his father had serious health issues, so it was just Azzylum running things. Which scared all of us because all of a sudden, this new person who we know nothing about, is running our community and competitive team.
Now our fall was soon to come. With Riconidoc gone, he took down the website and teamspeak rendering us unable to operate as an organization. Resulting in our competitive team being aquisitioned by Convergence Gaming. For the record I have complete and total support for Convergence, they are supporting good friends of mine and that's all that matters to me.
Below is a list of the most incredible shit that we accomplished that I never thought was possible.
