During the interview process I was asked in what kind of host family I would like to become apart of. I really wanted a larger family, host siblings around my age and in a city or suburbs. When I finally got the information of my host family I was really happy to see that all of this was met. I couldn't ask for a better host family based on what my preferences were. The family is significantly larger then what I have here in Canada, it is just me and my mom here but there it will be my host father, host mother, and grandparents as well. There are two host siblings but both are studying in the US and I am not sure if they will be back in Korea while I am there but hopefully they do come back.
When I was asked what my preferences were in regards to location, all I said was that I would prefer the suburbs or city. I got exactly what I wanted. I will be staying in Uiwang-Shi. It is in Kyounggi, the province that Seoul is apart of. Just by looking at the map I'm pretty sure Uiwang is a suburb of Seoul, which is exactly what I wanted, So this is great news.
The school that I'm going to is called Indeogwon High School, I don't know a lot about it. Just that is is Anyang, which is a decent commute from Uiwang, I believe it is 4 or 5 stops from Uiwang station via subway. Besides that after doing a little bit of research, I am pretty sure the school uniforms are purple which I think is pretty cool.
So that is about it for updates. My Korean is coming along pretty well, I am practising with one of my Korean friends at school but otherwise I still have a long way to go till I feel even remotely comfortable.
I am getting real excited for my departure on February 17th. If anyone here know anything about the area or has been there before I would appreciate any information.
