The past few days I have been laddering to try and get promoted to gold. My ZvZ to do that is spot on, I rarely lose a game. The only problem is that my ZvP and ZvT is just horrible.
While laddering, I keep facing zerg. I am happy and sad at the same time. These for me are really easy points to increase my ranking, which gets me closer to my goal. It upsets me because I really need to practice my terran and protoss. Its very simple to win against zerg in silver, as they think roach is the answer to everything. I just have to go ling/bling/muta and win. If I face a zerg equal to my skill, it turns from a micro to macro war. I usually win in the micro portion with baneling mines. >
My ZvP has gotten so much better. I go 14 gas/14 pool into a quick spire for some muta harrass and roach harrass. This usually kills them because they can't defend it properly. When it doesn't kill them, I usually macro harder. Sometimes it works, but most of the time I lose. My ZvP is about 50/50 right now, so I am not going to worry to much.
Now for terran. Why do they even pair me against this race, they might as well take points away at the start and just don't have me play them. Banshee harrass? gg. Hellion harrass? gg. MMM? HA whos ever beat it anyways. marine/tanks? Now we are talking. Terran: I thought this race was OP, gg. So basically I need to work on fending off everything but a marine/tank build. I am making progress as I finally learned you can use "x" to explode your banelings.
So far, progress is slow, but I am effectively beating zergs in gold league, while losing to terran in bronze league. As always, thanks for reading!

If you give me a couple reps I can give you some help XD

I'm a d terran on NA, if you want I can play a few games with you and give you some insight. I play super standard though

I lost to a mass marine 10 rax reactor terran while using brood lord bane festor just today. came out of the game 20k resources ahead, even after not mining for 5 more minutes at game end.
good luck.

Yes, a few replays of various Terran strategies will be good.
As a Terran player, this is probably how to go about keeping ahead.
1) Ling-Bane-Muta (since you are comfy with it). Punish him for moving out with ling-bane on the army AND muta harass around their base (if he has everything turreted and you don't have a third you should have already won the game and lost your timing before hive) and take a quick third for extra gas. Thus.... 2) Map control-Scouting. The reason why hellions are big is for map control for Terrans as it is so hard to get otherwise. You need to be able to take the towers, see when terran is taking his third, and scout his unit composition. If you know I am going lots of bio because of no tanks/fast starport....make banelings. If you see a lot of gas and fast starport get ready for cloakshee. 3) Drone moar. When you know what the opponent is doing and they aren't going to be attacking any time soon, put a round of full drones in and get a big lead in economy. Take a third when you start floating more minerals. Making more stuff than the opponent is key to winning.
What this all boils down to is not letting the Terran take his third (as it will be sniped by a muta flock or spread his army way too thin to defend a runby) and allow you to take your third and fourth to get more gas to tech and get the stuff you need to kill a big terran army of any composition. Last I checked Massed Hive tech win against anything that isn't a really good terran.

For harassment, you just have to learn the walling off techniques. For hellions specifically you do evo chamber and a couple spines, and your queen at your natural, in a wall from ramp towards hatch. Add in some speedlings and hellions will cost more than they destroy. For banshee harass you can do the same thing(he might be going banshee+hellion harass if hes good), you just need to get a couple more queens, have the wall off, and build a couple spore crawlers. Banshees lose to queens 1v1 IIRC. Against marine/tank make sure to spread creep and lay some baneling mines. Don't be discouraged if he simply scans and picks them off: that scan is a value of about 270 minerals, he's exchanging it for maybe 100 mins/50 gas (i forget the exact values), you might think of it like trading 5 marines for 2 banes. Mid game mutas destroy terran until he just sits in his base with thor/marine/turret, in which case you can take the map and go brood/ultra/infestor type stuff. Don't forget to get both your ground and air upgrades! It really makes a huge difference when going muta/ling/bling against marine/tank.

marine/tanks? Now we are talking.
????? If marine/tanks are easy for you as a zerg then the ppl you are playing against must be TERRIBLE. Marine/tank is SICKLY powerful and against the right players, you will find it the most hateful unit composition ever. I don't think your league is giving u an accurate portrayal of what ZvT is :/

Also queens lose to banshees 1v1, but if you focus fire, and pull back injured queens to spores etc you're ok.

i know you're in gold league, and i don't mean to offend you, but how is marine/tank the composition you have the LEAST problems with? that genuinely just baffles me.
anyway, pick a build you like and stick with it as an opening for a while. personally, i've been going 14/14 for quick speed and expanding at about 20, scouting at 12-13, and trying my best to make SURE i get a third queen to spread creep and get my overlords around his base to sac them in periodically to scout. i always make an evo chamber by the six minute mark. if banshees come, yay, i'm ready to throw down spores. if they don't come, i'm going to keep scouting to make sure he's not MASSING banshees that i wont be ready for or anything silly, and get +1 something (also sort of depending on what I scout). Then i go expansion crazy because terrran in gold league are happy as shit to sit on 1-2 bases for a long long time. when they try to take a third, i deny it with mutas, lings, and any and every other thing i can. eventually they'll get pissed off and move out, and you just...tear thier army apart by having a shit ton of larva and vision when they move out through creep.

Just scout properly vs banshee play, get your queens and spores, and you should be fine.
vs Hellion harass, learn to make a good wall with evo chambers and spines with queens.
Find a build, stick with that build, and just use that until you are so fluent you could do it with your eyes closed (not literally). Then learn a new one and so on. With each build, try to get a friend to practice with and tell them to banshee harass you so you can adapt with your build against it. Then try it against hellions, then MMM, then so on.

Need replays or else we can't really give you anything except the good old "Scout moar, drone moar, expand moar" stuff.

I would recommend something that is... not going to make you very happy:
Don't try to get promoted. It's hurtful because you need to win, and that need to succeed will hurt you more than it helps. For one, you are always looking to get to the next game instead of taking your time to examine your mistakes. Secondly, and probably more important, you're focusing on winning, not on learning. I know you're consciously trying to learn, but you're subconsciously trying to rise in the ranks, as indicated by your will to do so. It's better to fall in ranks and get better than to rise in ranks by getting lucky.
All the best, buddy! You're doing great.

This is probably my biggest problem. It is in my nature I think. I am a very big competitor, and if I ever told my soccer coach, lets just get better and not worry about the win, he would bench me. XD But, I guess SC2 is overall different from soccer. I will try my best to not win...

Exactly, remember, you're in this for the long haul. Seasons here don't mean as much, and it's not as hard improving yourself than a whole team. Keep at 'em.
