Malaysia's "New Straits Times" recently published an article about FXOBoss and his plans to form a league in Malaysia.
"Dreams of a game master" - An electronic sports evangelist tells Siti Syameen Md Khalili about his plans to put Malaysia on the world online gaming map
Really awesome interview, talks about Boss personally and also his plans for Malaysia...something GSL-like it would seem. This is huge, there's been a lot of talk about FXOpen's plans in Malaysia but now there's a time, February.
I actually knew nothing about his past, but wow he is an amazing person.
Back on topic about the League though, I think this is going to be great and I am wondering how many new players we will see emerge? I hope it goes great .
If anyone could just go over somewhere and make a great StarCraft 2 League in a place not looked at often for eSports it would be Boss.
This sounds amazing, and I wish him all the best luck.My dream would to be be able to drop in to watch, say, a Malaysian StarLeague in a few years time when I come back to Malaysia on holiday.
They'd probably have to attract foreign attention to a Malaysian based league, for perhaps no other reason then Malaysia is not a very strong SC2 nation (at least, I have not seen anything particularly strong out of them. Not recently, anyway).
Malaysia is definitely not a strong SC2 nation, most people there prefer DotA anyway. Imo if any pro-league should start in SEA it should be in Australia. There are many strong Australian players, SC2 is popular here and also we have great crowds at barcrafts and SC2 events at universities.
This sounds awesome. Good on you, Boss! Hope this does really well, maybe someday I'll be able to drive down and check things out, good god that'd be awesome. It's always felt like there's not much of a community element in the SEA area, so this should be particularly great.
