What really helped me get over the hunger at the start is drinking a ton of water while you're fasting.

Caffeine suppresses appetite.

Caffeine shortly before sleeps, not the best idea. Drink water.

So for anyone keeping up with my 1.5 weeks of hell. My favorite nicest uncle was just diagnosed with Renal Cancer. Growth on a Kidney. They cannot biobpsy it because it will spread being as its on his kidney. He's been referred from a dr in iowa (local) to a special dr in NY. Upon hearing this news I made a sandwhich and went to bed at like 9pm. I know its bad and not on the diet but I just wasn't even in the mood to put a salad together. woke up this morning down a lb from yesterday though so we'll see how next monday's weigh in goes.

What dose of Vitamin D would you recommend to help with sickness ? My tablets home are 1000 IU each.

I usually do ~20-30k iu of Vit d if i feel a cold coming on
@purecarnage - That fucking blows, can't even imagine it. I always turn to the weight room when shit is fucked up. The barbell will always be there and i'll always feel better an hour later.

I think I'm going to do 30 mins higher intensity on a no impact eliptical and then just walk really fast for like an hour. Try to sweat this thing out. I don't know if it will work prob not. You know your out of shape when you cough on Friday and still feel your crunches from Tuesday night.

Do you guys recommend multivitamins? Just started cooking my own meals, and it's ridiculous how much produce costs. I always prioritize on buying meat first when they're on sale (publix pretty much always has some kind of meat on sale every week), but even then I'm a bit short to buy much produce and fruits.

I can run for about 5 times longer in the evening when the sun is down/setting and its cooler. How can I go for longer runs during the day?

Multis are a waste if you're eating good foods... not sure how much frozen vegetables costs where you are but they're decently cheap here. That's a good alternative fi you can't buy fresh stuff & it goes well with stewing/crock pot

Wear less so you aren't as hot?

So, what's the verdict on unsweetened vegetable juice?
As much as I'd love to fill my diet with broccoli, sweet potatoes, avocados, and tomatoes (yes I know they're botanically a fruit), I simply can't afford it at this point. I'm tired of spending $20/day on food, and drinking unsweetened sugarless vegetable juice may be a reasonable way to get some vitamins.

Why you spending that much a day on food?!
Can you grab some bags of frozen vegetables.. that's preferable to vegetable juices at least and they go well with the crock pot stews

Why vitamin D? I went to the pharmacy and they told me to get zinc and vitamin C. They said that Vitamin D wouldn't help with the immune system at all. Then I pulled the vitamin D off the shelf and said well hey they seem to be able to advertise that it does... Pretty awkward moment at that point.

Read the studies: http://www.eatmoveimprove.com/2009/10/a-closer-look-at-vitamin-d/
There's at least 10x more than what i listed in that article...
Just go to pubmed and search vitamin D + upper respiratory tract infections if you're curious about more.
Also, if you look at the literature vitamin C does absolutely nothing for colds. It's false advertising for them to say stuff like that, and people just believe it now for some retarded reason. Zinc only works if you're deficient (and a lot of people are though), but not as good as vitamin D.

Japan.
Head of broccoli: $2.00 Bag of spinach: $2.00 Sweet potatoes: $1.00/potato Avocado: $1.80 Tomato: $1.00 White potatoes: (the only reasonable one) $1.50/1kg
The bigger problem is meat. I need 230g of protein a day, which is $10.00 worth of meat unless I eat nothing but chicken breasts, in which case it's $5.00. If I eat a large chicken breast and then some ground beef, I could potentially get by with $8.00/day on meat... ridiculous I know.
I may look for some frozen veggies, although last I checked they were just as expensive as the non-frozen type. Maybe just making a huge stew at the beginning of the week and eating it little by little all week would be a good option here.

That sucks man.... well search around and see what you can get I guess.

Yeah, I'm going to be moving soon so maybe my new area will have some nice farmer's markets or something.
What I'm currently planning on doing is trying out whey protein isolate to get all of my protein needs. Since regular whey screws me up that doesn't look like it'll work, but whey protein isolate may not hurt my stomach so much. That, plus a small serving of meat and some vegetables every day, may help me get the best of both worlds.
One thing that I can say is the quality of ingredients here is amazing. I just don't buy anything from the Fukushima area because ... well, you know.
Edit: Yeah, I just stocked up on soup supplies, and I think I'll get a slow cooker. Maybe this way I can get by with $12-$14/day in food supplies, but I'm not sure. As for now I'm just fasting all day until I train, eating, training, eating one more time, and starting another fast.
Hate to ask another question, but are beansprouts generally OK? They're called moyashi in Japanese, but that "bean" part of the word worries me that they may be a lentil.

I've recently started jogging again after being inactive for several years. It hasn't been a problem in the past, but whenever I go for a jog now I tend to get quite a bit of muscle pain down the side of my quadriceps, but the front of them is fine. It's a bit hard to describe exactly where without just pointing to my leg, but yeah lol. I always make sure to do the stretch where you stand on one leg and pull your heel to your backside before and after I jog, but it doesn't seem to help much. Can anyone reccomend a stretch that will target this area better? Or is there maybe another cause of the pain?

Sounds more like iliotibial band issues...?
Use a foam roller...
Or some other stuff here on page 4 though I would suggest reading the whole thing: http://www.eatmoveimprove.com/2009/11/shoes-sitting-and-lower-body-dysfunctions/
